Alice Fisher Obituary

Alice Margaret Fisher, age 97, of Marshfield passed away on Friday, December 6th, 2024 at Colonial Care Center in Colby, WI.

A celebration of life for Alice will be held at Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home, 1010 East Veterans Parkway, Marshfield, on Sunday, December 15th  from 4:00-7:00 PM.   A visitation at 10 AM will be followed by a Mass at 11 AM on Monday, December 16th at St. John’s Catholic Church in Marshfield, WI.   A private burial will take place in Hillside Cemetery at a later date.

Alice was born on August 15, 1927, at home in rural Stratford to Louis and Anna (Frodl) Wenzel.  She was the 8th of 11 children, raised on the family farm in the town of Eau Pleine.  She first attended Marathon Pride School, a one-room school, and continued her education at St. Joseph’s Catholic School, graduating from Stratford High School in 1945.  After high school, Alice held jobs at the Marshfield Canning Company, Normington’s Laundromat, and Weinbrenner Shoe Factory. While attending a dance, Alice met Sylvester Fisher, who she later married on September 28, 1948 at St. Joseph’s Church in Stratford.  They shared 56 years of marriage before Sylvester’s passing in 2004.  Together they purchased a 240 acre farm in the town of Day.  Over the 41 years on the farm, she raised 7 children, maintained a large garden, canned home grown fruits and vegetables, and made great meals and desserts for her family every day. Besides all of that she milked cows and worked everyday on the farm.  They were members of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Rozellville, WI where Alice was a member of the Parish Council of Catholic Women.   In 1989, they retired and moved to Marshfield, becoming members of St. John’s Catholic Church.

Alice loved to play cards, especially Sheep’s Head, sew, embroider, listen and dance to polka music.  She had many beautiful flower beds and planters, including her favorites, begonias.  She also enjoyed an occasional trip to the casino to play the slots.  What Alice enjoyed most in life was being with her family, she attended every Christmas, Birthday Party, Family Reunion, etc… and was almost always the last to leave.

Alice is survived by her children, Carol (Jerry) Dennee of Stratford, Mary (Bob) Britten of Granton, Joan (Bill) Drexler of Stratford, Cheryl Isakson of Marshfield, Jerry (Donna) Fisher of Stratford, Kathy (Paul) Frey of Marshfield and Bob ( Brenda) Fisher of Stratford.
