Allen Salzwedel Obituary

Allen A. Salzwedel, age 76, was called to heaven on Wednesday, May 13, 2026. He requested not to have any services.

Allen “Al” was born on May 20, 1949, at St.Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield, WI, to Raymond and Ruth (Strobel) Salzwedel. Al graduated from Marshfield High School. He then served in the US Army from May of 1969 to December of 1970, spending time stationed in Korea during the Vietnam war. Al was always very proud of his military service.

Al married Helen Hakl, and they later divorced. Al then married Kay Bohman on April 22, 1986, in Chicago, IL.

After concluding his military service, Al worked a variety of jobs before spending 31 years as a cheesemaker at Foremost Farms.

Al was a gentle soul with a big heart and was always willing to help others. In 40 years of

marriage, the only time he ever got really upset was when he had to make the same repair twice within three days to the same car.

In his younger days, he enjoyed waterskiing, bowling, playing cards, hunting, attending high

school football games, and riding his motorcycle “Suzy.” In later years, he looked forward to

meeting the guys for coffee on Tuesdays (where they’d solve the world’s problems) and the

days spent with the Respite crew. He was especially excited about spending time with the

grandkids and would always ask about the next time he’d get to see them. His dog, Boo, was always at his side.

Al leaves behind his wife of 40 years: Kay; their children: Dan (Ashley) of Watertown, MN, and Nancy (Kyle) Stickley of Reedsburg, WI; 3 darling grandchildren: Elizabeth, Leo, and Lydia; sisters: Donna (Charlie) Card of Elk Mound, WI, Judy (Dan) Jacobson of Eau Claire, WI; brothers-in-law: Ralph Stolz of Owen, WI, and Robert Bohman of Dousman, WI; sisters-in-law, Chris Krueger and JoAnn Bohman both of Marshfield, WI; and close cousin: Corrine (Boushon) Johnson.

Al is preceded in death by his parents; a sister: Betty Stolz; a granddaughter: Lilah; his mother-and father-in-law: George and Mary Bohman; brothers-in-law: Richard Bohman and Don Krueger; and special aunt and uncle: Lorraine and Arthur Boushon.
