Annie M. Christensen

Annie Mina Christensen, 78, of Wisconsin Rapids, WI passed away at St. Vincent’s hospital in Green Bay, WI on May 27, 2023, after a long battle with cancer.   

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 2, 2023 at the United Church of Christ in Pittsville, WI.  Burial will be in the Mound Cemetery, also in Pittsville.  Visitation will be at the church from 4-8 pm on Thursday, June 1 and from 10:00 am until time of service on Friday.

Annie was born on August 3, 1944, to Fred “Fritz” and Jessie (Bouma) Oehler of Arpin, WI.  She attended Auburndale High School and graduated in 1962.  She married Edward James “Jim” Christensen of Pittsville, WI in 1964.  They lived on the Christensen family farm for 30 years, then moving to a home they built together nearby in 1994.  Annie worked as a clerk at the Wood County Clerk of Courts for 25 years, taking a reprieve mid-career to be a homemaker for their young children.

She was a general leader and treasurer for Pleasant Corners 4-H for 15 years, committing many hours in support of her children.  She was a member of the UCC church for her entire life, participating in Women’s Guild and Stitch & Bitch.  Annie loved gardening, sewing, cooking, playing cards, and spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling to such locations as New Zealand, Germany, Switzerland, Hawaii, Arizona, Florida, and California.

Annie will be deeply missed by her three children; Bruce (Renee) Christensen of Santa Barbara, CA, Jeffrey (Misty) Christensen of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, and Lisa (Jim) Schulz of Arpin, WI.  She is also survived by seven grandchildren; Jacob (Sammy) Schulz, Martina Schulz, Brianna Christensen, Caitlyn Christensen, Bennett Christensen, Elena Christensen and Juliana Christensen.

She was preceded in death by both her parents, her husband Jim, and her brother Freddie of Arpin.
