Arlene T. (Tooty) Wilcott, (Karl), of Marshfield, was born to Eternal Life on April 22, 2022 at the age of 95 years, surrounded by her family at home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 201 West Blodgett Street, Marshfield, on Friday, April 29, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. with Reverend Daniel Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Marshfield. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandchildren: David, PJ, Tim, Alex, Seth and Amanda, with honorary pallbearer, Tyler.
Visitation for family and friends, will be held at the Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home, 1010 East Veterans Parkway, Marshfield, on Thursday, April 28, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again one hour before the time of service at the church on Friday. A PCCW rosary service will be at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
Tooty was born February 2, 1927, to Louis and Theresa Karl in Laona, WI. Her mother, Theresa passed when she was 3 years old, while her father, Louis worked at Connor Lumber Camp in Laona. She and her sister were raised by Mary and John Fuehrer (Ma and Pa).
Tooty graduated from Marshfield Senior High School on May 29, 1945. She married James (Jim) on July 26, 1947, at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church, in Marshfield, WI. They were together for 42 years before his death in 1989. Together, they worked at Jimmies Café in Marshfield, where it had been in the Wilcott family for 70 years. After retirement, she spent her time devoted to her family and friends. She loved to garden and can fruits and vegetables. She loved to sew, knit, and crochet, making many clothes for her children and grandchildren. Tooty learned to sew curtains from her Aunt Mary. Sewing curtains for a time for Marshfield Flooring. Her ultimate gift was making Barbie doll clothes for Christmas presents. She also loved to play cards and Mexican Train and go to the Casino with her beloved friends and family.
She is survived by her children: Karyn (Dave) Steines, of Eau Claire, Paul (Sue) Wilcott, of Kronenwetter, Jill (Dan) Maxinoski, of Marshfield and Missy (Jake) Binder of Marshfield. Grandchildren: Andrea (Rich) Ponto, Krista Pender, Bridget (Chris) Ohm, David (Kathy) Steines, PJ (Jill) Wilcott, Tim (Diana) Wilcott, Jennifer Bunn, Danyelle (Brandon) Hasz, Alex (Rita) Maxinoski, Seth (Olivia) Maxinoski, and Amanda Binder. Great-grandchildren: Kiera Steines, Kylie and Caden Pender, Keegan Steines, Dietrich Ohm, Braden, Aubrey and Ellie Steines, Jordyn and Riley Wilcott, Carter and Chase Wilcott, Tianna and Christopher Bunn, Camryn and Evelyn Hasz, Finley Maxinoski, Madelyn Maxinoski, Cody, Tyler, Brianna and Savannah Binder. She is further survived by one great-great granddaughter, Kinleigh Smith.
Tooty is preceded in death by her husband, James, an infant son, Gregory, her parents, Louis and Theresa, a sister, Virginia (Sissy) Beining and husband, Mike, great-grandson Timothy James (TJ) Wilcott, Mary and John Fuehrer, her in-laws, Helen and James Wilcott, Mary (Barney) and Burt Brunner, Sarah Biechler, and nephew Mike Brunner.
The family would like to thank the nurses, doctors and staff at Saint Croix Hospice for their loving and devoted care of Tooty, with special acknowledgement to Carissa, Jen, Britta, Social Worker Jen and Chaplain Randy. They would also like to recognize Respite Care of Marshfield, especially to Donna, for all her loving care and support. Memorials will be designated at a later date.
