Arnold Boehning Obituary

Arnold Boehning was called to his heavenly home on Sunday, December 27, 2020, at Marshfield Medical Center.  The family was thankful for the quality time spent with him at the hospital.  We also just celebrated his 96th birthday.

He was born on December 9, 1924, to Anna (Kuehnhold) and Charles Boehning in the town of Auburndale, Wisconsin.  He proudly served in the U.S. Navy from July 22, 1943, to May 20, 1946, during World War II where he served as a Machinist mate on the USS Acubens.  He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW.  He also had the honor of going on the second Honor Flight, which was a day to remember.

On August 14, 1948, he was united in marriage to Mabel Weichelt, who preceded him in death on October 10, 2018.  They were married at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hewitt, Wisconsin.  They had celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in August 2018.

In 1950, they purchased their farm on Day Road and resided there their entire life.  In addition to being a farmer, Arnold worked in construction and was always proud of the new structures they were building.  On Sunday afternoons he would often take his family on car rides to show them the latest projects.  He was also proud of his 1978 Chevy pickup and his John Deere tractor.  Family and friends were always welcomed at their home and enjoyed playing cards, especially sheepshead.  He was a lifelong member and currently the oldest member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hewitt.

He is survived by his daughters, Deanna (Ron) Kelly and Ellen (Butch) Steckbauer.

He is also survived by six grandchildren: Bryan (Amy) Kelly, Brad Kelly, Lisa (Andy) Zietlow, Angie Newton, Jennifer (Steve) Votava and Amy (Brian) Nutter; along with15 great-grandchildren: Morgan, Ava, Noah, Isaac, Nathan, Chavonne, Hailey, Logan, MacKenzie, Presley, Kaydance, Dawson, Maddilee, Piper and Willow.  He is also survived by one sister, Lucille Heinzen.

Arnold was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mabel; his brothers, Alfred, Edwin, Walter (Pat), Herbert and Reuben; and his sisters, Ella Benson, Dora Johnson, Myrtle Beardsley, Ruth Kuehnhold and Lillian Sebastian.

We would like to thank the staff at Wells Nature View for the wonderful care given to dad this past year.  It gave us peace to know he was well cared for.

The funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2021, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hewitt. Pastor Dean Pingel will officiate. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be at the church, prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Per Covid-19 restrictions, social distancing will be observed and masks will be required.
