Arthur L. Schill, 87, passed away peacefully at 7:00 a.m. on Friday, April 5, 2024, at Aster Assisted Living in Marshfield. Services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 12, 2024, at Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home (1010 E. Veterans Pkwy, Marshfield, WI). Deacon Ray Draeger will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at the funeral home.
Art was born December 23, 1936, in Auburndale to Edward and Margaret (Wolf) Schill. He Married the love of his life, Janet Manlick, on January 25, 1957. The couple celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary this past January 2024.
He was educated at St. Mary’s School in Auburndale. He went into farming, but shortly after became head custodian for the Auburndale School District, where he worked for 35 years until retirement. While working for the school district full time, he also was a school bus driver in Auburndale for 38 years.
Apart from his professional achievements, Art was involved in the community, serving on the Auburndale Village Board for 15 years, as a volunteer with the Fire Department for 19 years, and as a Lions Club member for 26 years.
In his spare time he enjoyed being outdoors fishing, hunting, trapping, bowling, and cutting wood. He also enjoyed bowling, playing softball, and was a shrewd card player; particularly at sheepshead!
Art is lovingly survived by his wife, Janet Schill of Marshfield; children: Daniel Schill of Marshfield, Debra (Lee) Kempf of Arpin, Dawn (Tom) Fuehrer) of Auburndale, Darla (Pat) Schuld of Chaseburg; and nine grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. He is further survived by his siblings: Lorraine (Richard) Breu of Marshfield, Irene (Jim) Kraus of Janesville, Bernice (Ron) McDermott of Milton, Carol (Dan) Mancl of Wisconsin Rapids, Albert (Fran) Schill of Marshfield, Kenneth (Nettie) Schill of Stratford, and Leroy Schill of Mosinee. Art will truly be missed by everyone!
He was preceded in death by his parents: Edward and Margaret (Wolf) Schill; brother, Marvin Schill; and brother-in-law, Jim Kraus.
