Colleen Holleran Ziegahn Austin

Colleen Holleran Ziegahn Austin of Marshfield passed away peacefully on December 26, 2021, at the House of Dove Hospice House in Marshfield, WI. A graveside service will be held for Colleen and Frank at Noon Saturday, June 4, 2022 at Hillside Cemetery.

Colleen was born on March 29, 1925 in Marshfield, WI. The oldest child of Arlie (Desbrow) Holleran and Kenneth (Mickey) Holleran. She attended Jefferson Elementary, Purdy Jr. High and graduated from Marshfield Senior High School, Class of 1942.

On February 12, 1944, she married her high school sweetheart, Verlyn (Bill) Ziegahn in St. Louis, MO. They were married for 30 years and divorced. On August 1, 1975, she married Frank Austin in a civil ceremony in the Town of Cleveland.  Colleen will be remembered as a loving grandmother who valued time with her family. She took pride in her flowers, gardening, canning, and decorating her yard for the holidays.

Colleen was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s German Evangelical Church; now the United Church of Christ in Marshfield, WI. She is survived by her son, Kenneth (Bonnie) Ziegahn of Anchorage, AK, sisters, Patricia Gessert and Claudine (Edward) Fandry of Marshfield, WI, sister-in-law, Nancy Holleran of Marshfield, WI. Surviving grandchildren are Jennifer (Scott) Voda of Spencer, WI, Paige (Steve) Rappe of Marshfield, WI, Liberty Ziegahn (DJ Catrow) of Chicago, IL, Sonnet Ziegahn (Josh Mitchell) of Chicago, IL, Will Ziegahn of Austin, TX. Surviving Great Grandchildren are Alexa (Michael Knutson) Voda, Tyler (Tianna) Voda, William and Haley Vanderwyst, Rowan Catrow, Cameran Mitchell, and Tommy (Katelynn) Mcdonnell. Surviving Great-Great Grandchildren are Nora Knutson and Elayna Mcdonnell.

She is proceeded in death by her parents, Arlie and Kenneth Holleran, brother, Michael Holleran, first husband Bill Ziegahn, husband Frank Austin, daughter Kay Hebert, son-in-law, Roger Hebert, brother in law, Norbert Gessert, grandson Michael Ziegahn, niece Trisha Fandry, and nephew Tom Fandry.

The strife is o'er, the battle done; the victory of life is won, the song of triumph has begun: Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!
