Dale H. Anderson

With deep love and sadness, the family of Dale H. Anderson shares that he passed away peacefully at home in Marshfield on June 15, surrounded by those who meant the most to him. He was 78 years old. A memorial service to honor Dale’s life will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home in Marshfield, Wisconsin, with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. The service will be officiated by Pastor Mark Krueger.  Dale’s grandchildren, who brought him so much joy, will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Dale’s story began on June 30, 1947, in Withee, Wisconsin, where he was born to Howard and Viola (Schulze) Anderson. He grew up with the values of hard work, faith, and family that would guide him throughout his life. After graduating from Owen-Withee High School in 1965, he joined the Army National Guard. From 1966 to 1972, he served with the 724th Operating Engineers Battalion, carrying with him the same steady sense of duty that would define so much of the man he became.

On September 10, 1966, Dale married his high school sweetheart, Judy (Shilts), at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Greenwood, Wisconsin. Together they built a life rooted in devotion, perseverance, and love—a partnership that endured for nearly 60 years. Dale went on to build a career as an electrician, eventually retiring from Dakota Electric. To many of the people who worked beside him, he was known simply as “Curly,” a nickname spoken with familiarity and affection.

Outside of work, Dale found happiness in life’s simple and enduring traditions. He loved hunting and was an avid outdoorsman especially looked forward each year to deer season at his childhood home, known fondly as “The Farm.” Those days were more than a pastime—they were part of the rhythm of his life and a reflection of the places and memories he held dear. Above all, Dale took immense pride in his grandchildren. He followed their activities with enthusiasm, celebrated their accomplishments, and treasured every chance to be part of their lives.

Dale leaves behind his loving wife, Judy; his daughters, Wendy (David) Weis of Stratford, and Sue (John) Fowler of Neillsville; his son, Todd (Kristin Fetting) Anderson of Granton; and bonus daughter, Katie (Mike) Tamas of Jefferson. He is also lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Janaya (Caleb Moore) Weis, Alex Weis, Wyatt (Anna Rossner) Fowler, Jesse (Allyson Guden) Fowler, Braden (Sydney Ott) Anderson, and Austin Anderson; bonus grandchildren, Laela, Emily, and Brady Tamas; and one great-grandchild, Huxleigh Moore.

He is further survived by his sister, Darleen Peche; brother-in-law, Doug Knapp; sisters-in-law, Alice Anderson, Bonnie (Gary) Englebretson, Iva Peterson, Irene (Tom) Schmitt, and Gerri (Dave) Loucks; and brothers-in-law, LaVerne (Laurie) Shilts, Bruce Englebretson, and John (Goldyn) Shilts.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Viola; his sister, Kathy Knapp; brother-in-law, Victor Peche; his in-laws, John and Bessie Shilts; sisters-in-law, Shirley Englebretson and Linda Gindt; and brothers-in-law, Norm Anderson, Steve Gindt and Ron Bottlemy. Dale will be remembered for his quiet strength, his steadfast love for his family, and the pride he took in the life he built. His memory will live on in the stories shared, the traditions continued, and the family who loved him deeply.
