Dale Kopf

Dale E. Kopf passed away peacefully, July 15, 2023, surrounded by his family at the Marshfield Medical Center.

Dale was born in Marshfield on March 18, 1943, to Justin and Veronica (Seidel) Kopf.

Following his graduation from Columbus High School, he joined the US Navy, sailing to Europe and was serving at Guantanamo during the “Cuban Crisis”. Following his honorable discharge from the Navy, he joined his father in the stucco and plastering business.

Dale married Patricia A. Weimert in Bloomer, Wisconsin, on September 25, 1965, and looked forward to celebrating 58 years together this year.

As the owner of Kopf Plastering Inc of Marshfield, Dale worked for 50 years at the trade he was proud of. As a master plasterer, working with his son Todd and his loyal employees, his company left its mark on commercial and residential buildings in Wisconsin, Minnesota and upper Michigan. Finally retiring at age 70.

Dale enjoyed the cabin on Soo Lake in Phillips, entertaining family and friends. He always planned to go fishing but joked that he was more of a “bait buyer” than a fisherman. Many close friends were victims to Dale’s sense of humor and endless pranks leaving them with stories to tell. Spending time in Orange Beach, Alabama, during winter months was a yearly highlight, enjoying time with good friends.

Lovingly surviving Dale are his wife, Pat; grandsons, Dylan Kopf, Josh and Reece Roder; brother, Robert Kopf (Peggy); and sisters, Mary Kopf and Dawn Dering; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews also survive.

Preceding him in death were his parents; father and mother-in-law, Louis and Hildred Weimert; son, Todd; brother, Daryl; brothers-in-law, Dr. Michael Weimert and Daniel Weimert.

Special thank you to David and Linda Weimert, Diane Back, John and Karen Krier, Ray and Kristine Parent, and Dr. Matthew Jansen, each who helped ease Dale’s struggle the past three years. We are grateful to the staff of the Marshfield Medical Center and UW Madison Dr Michael Woods, for their care and attention to Dale as well.

The memorial service for Dale will be held at 12 noon on Friday, July 28, 2023, at the Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home (1010 E. Veterans Pkwy. in Marshfield), with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m.
