Diana Christine (Blodgett) Thornton, 80, of Marshfield, WI, went to be with her Savior on October, 8th 2025, at Northshore Healthcare in Marshfield, WI. Memorial services will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Calvary Bible Church, 300 S. Walnut, in Marshfield, WI. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the church.
Diana was born on October 27, 1944, to Donald and Irene (Barncard) Blodgett at AAF Station Hosp., Selfridge Field, Michigan. She graduated in 1964 from Marinette High School in Marinette, WI. On February, 26th,1966, she was united in marriage to her husband of nearly 60 yrs., Devere Cummings Thornton, at the Nazarene Church in Marshfield, WI.
Diana and Devere, a Nazarene minister, served the Lord faithfully in many congregations, most recently in Marshfield, WI, and Wausau, WI. She brought comfort and encouragement to many. Diana cared for many foster children when they pastored in La Crosse, WI, and also provided daycare for children in her home for many years. Later, she worked for Baltus Oil Co. as a gas station attendant for 12 yrs in Marshfield, WI.
Diana loved singing and music. She began playing piano for church services at age 13 and continued playing piano throughout her life. She especially enjoyed singing with family and friends at gatherings. She was also a member of the Sweet Adelines barbershop choir for 30 yrs. She loved performing all over the area with her Sweet Adeline friends.
Diana is lovingly survived by her husband, Devere Thornton; children, Lisa (Bob) Schmitz of Houston, MN, Bryan (Kim) Thornton of Brodhead WI, and Christine (Joshua) Foemmel of Chili, WI; as well as siblings, Donna Krohn, Randy Blodgett, and Alicia Huntington. She is further survived by 10 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. Diana was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Irene Blodgett; her sister, Lynna Rider; brothers-in-law, Rusty Huntington, Wally Rider, and David Krohn; and her child, Alana Cummings (Scott Thornton).
