Dolores "Dolly" Albrecht Obituary

Dolores “Dolly” Elise Albrecht, 93, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at Wells Nature View CBRF located at 2711 South Apple Ave in Marshfield, WI, where she had been a resident for the past three years. A Celebration of life will be held at Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home in Marshfield on Tuesday, October 29, with visitation beginning at 9 a.m. with the service at 11 a.m., officiated by Dennis Fahey, chaplain with Heartland Hospice. A meal and a time of fellowship will follow. Interment will be at Arpin Public Cemetery at a later date.

Dolly was born at home in Pittsville, Wisconsin, on June 8, 1931, to Leonard ‘Guy’ Leberg and Edith (Keiner) Leberg. She graduated from Pittsville High School in 1949 and shortly after met and then married her soulmate, Herman ‘Bud’ Albrecht, Jr. on September 17, 1951, in Dubuque, Iowa, and they enjoyed 70 years together living in Arpin, WI, the entire time and those 70 years were filled with many experiences.

Bud preceded her in death on January 8, 2022.

During her early adult life, Dolly was employed at the Pittsville Cannery and Adawaughum factory in Wisconsin Rapids. She also did seasonal work at the K & F Mink ranch that was located in Arpin, Wisconsin, and Evergreen Acres in Arpin. But her career of passion was to take care of her family and home, which she did tirelessly.

Dolly always had a smile for everyone and would always become the life of the party with her jokes and comical antics. She loved the holidays and would decorate both inside and outdoors for every occasion. She delighted in playing Santa Claus.....all year around. Once while wearing her Santa suit, she peeked into the family room window where her granddaughter was having a number of friends over. It caused quite a stir and the boys decided to go out and chase her. She had to run and hide out at her in-laws that lived next door. By the way, the guys didn’t catch her.

Halloween decorations and scaring trick-or-treaters are still talked about by those that encountered her in costume. And while she was handing out candy, my dad would be handing out shots of J. Bavet to the trick or treater parents.

She enjoyed technology and was one of the first to have a computer. She loved Atari games and would challenge her grandson, Chris, to a round of Pac-Man or Donkey Kong.

She raced powder puff stock car on a dirt track in rural Pittsville that was sponsored by the Walt Chronis garage in Arpin. She also went flying with Bud and trusted him completely. Later years she owned a Triumph motorcycle which she talked about even a few days before her passing.

Outdoors was her favorite place. She always had a large garden. She enjoyed quilting, needlework, cooking, and seemingly was able to conquer any project placed before her.

There were hard struggles in her life also, but her faith in God always gave her strength, guidance, and encouragement. She looked forward to seeing her God and we all know she will be bringing her joy and laughter before His throne to offer that gift He gave her.

And her joy, laughter and smile will be sorely missed by her survivors, daughter, Kathryn LaBarge Fromholtz; granddaughter, Elizabeth Guldan; grandson, Christopher (Amanda Shaw) LaBarge; and great-grandchildren, Trevor (Taylor), Ashlyn, and Brooklyn Guldan; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Dolly was predeceased by her parents; and Frederick Gotz, step-father; and brothers, Leonard Leberg, Jr, and Bruce Leberg.

The family would like to express their thanks to the staff at Wells Nature View, and Heartland Hospice. Their kindness, care, and patience is greatly appreciated.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Pittsville Community Library.
