Donald F. King

Donald F. King “Whitey,” of Pittsville, Wisconsin, passed away late afternoon on Oct. 21, 2023, at Wells Nature View in Marshfield, Wisc.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28, 2023, at the Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home (1010 E. Veterans Pkwy. in Marshfield) with Rev. Mark Krueger officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday morning.

Donald was born on Aug. 14, 1940, to Harold and Florence (Trachte) King in Marshfield, and was a graduate of Pittsville High School. On Aug. 4, 1962, he was united in marriage to Shirley Heisler in Chili, Wisc.

He enjoyed cutting wood, hunting, fishing, and making maple syrup; he spent a lot of time on the family farm that his son Steve owns.

Don is survived by his wife, Shirley (Heisler) King; children, Steve (Louise) King of Arpin, Wisc., Lisa (Ron) Wellnitz of Arpin, Bonnie (John) Schueller of Pittsville; grandchildren, Rachael (John) Hafenbradle of Milladore, Wisc., Robyn Wellnitz of Marshfield, Tonia (Rob Brentseson) Schueller of Alaska, Justin (Emily) Schueller of La Crosse, Wisc.; great-grandchildren, Savanna Hafenbradle, Scott Hafenbradle, and Leah Schueller.

He is further survived by his sister, Dorothy Richard of Fredrick, Wisc.; and his little dog “Sass.” Don will be truly missed.
