Don had owned and operated Hub City Bowling Lanes from 1981 to 1991; he also served as 7th District alderman for two terms, after which time he felt it was time for new ideas and personnel from the 7th District to serve on the council.

He is survived by his wife, Chris; sisters-in-law, JoAnn Bohman, Kay (Allen) Salzwedel; brother-in-law, Robert (Lori) Bohman; nieces and nephews; and other family members.
