Eldon "Eldie" Gilbert Hildebrandt passed away on February 14, 2026, at his home outside of Marshfield. He was born on June 20, 1938, in Marshfield and preceded in death by his parents, Hilbert and Irene (Gunderson) Hildebrandt, his brother Aaron Hildebrandt and sister Ila Mae Reigel.
He spent his childhood on the family farm, working at Hefko Flower Shop for one year followed by 43 years at Marshfield’s Weinbrenner Shoe Company and 48 years farming the land where he has lived the last 56 years with MaryAnn.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, MaryAnn (Schraeder) Hildebrandt; his two children – Susan and Lee Hildebrandt; five brothers (Gayland, Kenneth, Oscar, LaVern, and Arvin Hildebrandt); two sisters (Marcia Cook and Faith Mealey); five grandchildren (Brandi, Bayli, Brianna, and Aaron Hildebrandt, and Britni Fischer); and two great-grandchildren (Anna Kloos) and (Silas Fischer), with another on the way. His grandchildren, Ken Day, and Greg Cook will serve as pallbearers. His remains will rest in Spencer Cemetery.
Eldon’s family extends their whole-hearted thanks to all who helped care for him: Shannon & the whole Campassus team, the good people at Well Be, and his hospice caregivers.
A visitation at Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home (1010 E Veterans Pkwy, Marshfield) will take place on Friday, February 20 from 9:00-11:00, followed by a celebration of Eldon’s life at 11:00.
