Obituary

Surrounded by her immediate family, Elizabeth “Pat” G. Mueller, age 92, of Marshfield, passed away on Sunday, July 9, 2023 at Stoney River Assisted Living in Marshfield, Wisconsin. A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home in Marshfield. (1010 E. Veterans Parkway). Rev. Mark Kreuger will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until the time of services at the funeral home.

Pat was born June 4, 1931 in Marshfield, the daughter of Leo and Leona (Folz) Tritz. She was united in marriage to Donald J. Mueller on June 25, 1949 at First Presbyterian Church in Marshfield. They were married for 63 years, until his death on July 4, 2012.

For a short time, Pat worked at Weinbrenner Shoe Factory.  During the 1960’s through early 1970’s, she helped her mother and step-father in their seasonal Wisconsin Rapids business, Rohde’s Greenhouse, and especially enjoyed assisting customers during the Spring selling season. To help support her growing family, Pat also worked part-time at Figi’s Inc. in Marshfield, until her children were grown. Then, she transitioned into a full-time position. Pat continued to enjoy her work and developed many friendships at Figi’s over the years, until her retirement in the early 1990’s.

Pat loved to go camping. Among her favorite memories was the month-long, August 1965, camping vacation with her young family. The trip followed historic Route 66 from Missouri to Flagstaff, Arizona, included a stop to see Don’s sister, Evelyn and husband Frank in Phoenix, AZ., and visits to many national parks, including: Zion, Bryce Canyon, The Painted Desert, Petrified Forest, Grand Tetons, Yellowstone, Glacier, and Mount Rushmore. She and Don continued to camp until the later 2000’s, when his health began to decline.

An animal lover, Pat had a daily routine of feeding the birds, rabbits, squirrels, and deer. She had a special affinity for cats, and had one as a pet most of her life. (She liked telling stories about visiting her friend, Mary Binder, and her “kitties”).

Elizabeth is survived by her three sons, seven grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren: Michael (Ardell) and their sons, Gregory (Stephanie) and their daughters Aveana and Sirena, Jeremy (Jill), Jeffrey, Ryan (Amy) and their son Benjamin; Roger (Barb) and their sons Andrew and Elliot (Stephanie) and their daughter Emmeline (Karl/Fuddles) and son Levi; Dennis (Linda) and son Marcus (Andrea) and their sons Noah and Aiden. She is further survived by a sister-in-law, Idele Tritz, many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband Donald; parents: Leo and Leona; and siblings Joseph and Rose Marie (Dolly).

Family would like to thank the staff at Stoney River Assisted Living; Rita, mom’s nurse from Compassus Home Health; and Promedica Hospice for their wonderful care.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Elizabeth’s name may be made to Marshfield Area Pet Shelter or the American Cancer Society.
