Evelyn Alice Silkey, age 87, of Marshfield, WI died on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Stevens Point Health Services in Stevens Point, WI. Evelyn Alice Drescher was born August 31, 1937, in the Town of Grant, Clark County Wisconsin the daughter of Arnold Edwin and Laura Bertha (Gerzmehle) Drescher. On November 5, 1955, she was united in marriage to Ervin George Silkey. They farmed in the Neillsville area before settling in Marshfield. Evelyn (Evie) was very proud of the many years she worked as a Nursing Assistant and ER Tech at St Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield. When not working, she enjoyed tending to her flowers and vegetable gardens, fishing and loving the many dogs and cats that were lucky enough to have Evie come into their lives. She also spent many volunteer hours helping in the kitchen at the Eagles Club.
Evelyn is survived by her sister-in-law Mrs. Ruth (Silkey) Lawrence of Milwaukee, WI, nephews Harold (Sandy) Drescher of Neillsville, Tom (Debbie) Drescher of Neillsville, Steve (Karen) Drescher of Kronenwetter, nieces Marilyn (Jeffrey) Sigler of Wisconsin Rapids, Barbara (Dan) Sours of Chippewa Falls, Virginia Noll of Eau Claire and Sue (Lee) Drescher of Marshfield.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ervin, 3 brothers - Leonard (Vera), Stanley and Lawrence (Josephine), her sister Jeanette (Arvid) Watenpuhl, her nephew Lee Drescher and her furry best friend Kittie Callie.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, February 6, 2025, at Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home (1010 E. Veterans Parkway) in Marshfield, Wisconsin. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home on Thursday. Interment will be in Brooklawn Cemetery.
Those wishing to express their sympathies are encouraged to do so in Evelyn’s name to the Humane Society or pet rescue of your choice.
