Memorial services will be held at Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home, 1010 East Veterans Parkway, Marshfield, on Saturday, August 13, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. with Father Sengole Vethanayagam, of St. Andrew’s Parish in Rozellville, officiating. Ralph and Lucille (Schomaker) Alfredson welcomed their son, Gary William, on November 14, 1947, in Menomonie, Michigan. He was the second of four sons.

Gary obtained elementary education and later graduated from St. Joseph's Catholic High School. Anxious to make a difference in the world, Gary enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp, proudly serving from 1966 to 1970.

He was a Vietnam Veteran. After returning home from serving his country, Gary attended Kenosha Community College. He earned a technical diploma in Welding, Maintenance and Fabrication.

Gary and Susan Seitz were united in marriage on May 19, 1973. They moved from Paddlock Lake to Marshfield after the birth of their second child. Gary and Sue recently celebrated their 49th Wedding Anniversary.

Together they welcomed three daughters: Melinda, Janel, and Robin.

In 1976, Gary re-enlisted into the military. He joined the U.S. Reserves and retired after 20 years.

He later returned to school for his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. Gary worked as a Quality Control Auditor in stainless steel manufacturing for most of his career and then retired in his early 60's to further enjoy his most prized role: Grandpa.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Lucille; his father in-law and mother-in-law, Marvin and Lorraine Seitz; his older brother, Dan, and his younger brother, Tommy; and brother-in-laws, Clifford Seitz and Terrence Frank.

Gary is survived by his beloved wife, Susan; his loving daughters, Melinda (Jody Sandley) of Spencer; Janel Alfredson and Robin Silbaugh, both of Marshfield. Grandchildren Emma and Jacob Sandley and Lily, Angelynn and Leo Silbaugh. His younger brother, Tim, and his daughter, Ashley, reside in Kenosha. Gary is further survived by sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws: Judy and Peter Beining, Jerry and Janice Seitz, Lois Seitz (late Clifford Seitz),

John and Jane Seitz, Mary June and Joe Mayer, and Rosalie Frank (late Terrence Frank) and many nieces and nephews.

Gary was a dedicated Packer fan and enjoyed rock n' roll oldies. He was always eager to figure out puzzles on "The Wheel of Fortune" before the contestants and often was the Life of the Party at any gathering, big or small. He looked forward to feeding the "piggies" everyday, which were his grandkid's piggy banks. Charm, wit, and humor were Gary's greatest assets. Many people enjoyed his friendly nature and his storytelling of past adventures. He will be forever known for his famous baked beans.

Gary never denied anyone a kind gesture, a much needed laugh, or an honest handshake. He was a man of his word.

May You Rest in Peace.
