Gerald Wagner Obituary

Gerald E. Wagner, age 91, of Marshfield, WI passed away on Saturday, August 27, 2022.

Memorial services for Gerald will be held at Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home, Marshfield, on Wednesday, August 31, 2022, at 4:00 p.m. with Reverend Dan Thelen officiating. Military honors will be performed by the American Legion Post No. 54 of Marshfield, following the service. Visitation for family and friends will be from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home on Wednesday.

Gerald Wagner was born on September 13, 1930 in Marshfield to Blasius E. and Caroline (Bilgrien) Wagner.

He graduated from Marshfield High School in 1948. After his education, he entered the National Guard, in which he was honorably discharged in 1950. In 1951 he was drafted into the Korean War where he served honorably on the front lines and was discharged as a Sergeant First Class in 1953.

Gerald was employed as a firefighter for the Marshfield Fire Department. He then was employed as a truck driver for Hub City Foods until his retirement in 1992. After his retirement he drove for V & H Ford for 20 years picking up and dropping off vehicles, which he really enjoyed. His hobbies included playing cards and shaking dice at the Eagles, and watching any Wisconsin sporting event on television. He had a good sense of humor and enjoyed making people laugh.

He married Joyce Baumgartner in 1958. He is survived by his wife, Joyce and three children, Julie Kramer of Marshfield, Tim Wagner (Francesca) of Montana, Jay Wagner (Sherri Witt) of Marshfield; his grandchildren Judah Burdick of Marshfield, Jedidiah (Niclole) Burdick of Ripon, Alyssa Wagner of Lake Zurich, IL, Amanda (Ethan Zavier) Wagner of Oak Park, MI, Diana Pinto of Bozeman, MT, Minerva Pinto of Philadelphia, PA, Jenifer (Lukas) Celis of Spencer, Jereme Neuendank of Tempe, AZ; great grandchildren Lauryn and Katelyn Celis, and sister Carol (Don) Cherf. He was preceded in death by his daughter Karlene, five brothers and five sisters.
