Ila Mae Grimm, age 90, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 12, 2020, at Serenity Living in Marshfield. Due to the continuing Covid-19 pandemic, a memorial service will be held at the Arpin Cemetery at 10:00 AM, Saturday, October 9, 2021. Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home & Cremation Center is assisting the family with arrangements.
Ila was born at home, March 11, 1930, in the Township of Lincoln, Wood County, Wisconsin. She was raised by her parents, Edward and Lillian (Tiernan) Steltenpohl, in several communities in central Wisconsin. Accordingly, she also received her education at various schools.
Ila was united in marriage to Donald J. Grimm on January 16, 1954, at St. John’s United Church of Christ, Arpin. The couple shared 60 years together until his passing on June 1, 2014. She was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, its Women’s Fellowship, and was also a Sunday School teacher.
Ila devoted her time and energy to her family and home. She cherished time with her husband, children, and grandchildren. She loved her husband and children, but she adored her grandchildren. She welcomed each grandchild with such love and was delighted to be their “Grandma Ila.”
Ila is survived by her children, Dennis (Debby) Grimm and Dianne Grimm; her grandchildren, Jeremy (Niki) Grimm, Stephanie (Antonio) Yorba, Alicia Grimm; and great-grandson, Benjen Yorba. She is also survived by sisters, Olive Stoflet and Kathy Kolo; and brothers, Donald, Wayne (Barb), and Ronald (Shirley) Steltenpohl. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her parents; birth father, Kenneth Morrison; sister, Marjorie Reed; and brothers, Gene, Alvin, and Jerry Steltenpohl.
The family would like to thank all the staff of Marshfield Clinic Health System, Wells Nature View, Alice and Louise’s Adult Family home, Serenity Living, and Heartland Hospice for all the support and care provided during Ila’s last years.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to St. John’s United Church of Christ in Arpin, WI or the Alzheimer’s Association.
