Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, June 10, 2021, at St. John’s Lutheran Church (George Avenue) in Auburndale. Visitation will be held at the church before the service from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM. Burial will take place at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery on Shady Road.
Art was born January 19, 1930, the son of Jacob and Cleo (Trotter) Marti in Wisconsin Rapids. He graduated from Marshfield High School in 1947. He was raised in Arpin and was proud of his community. On April 29, 1950, Art was united in marriage to the love of his life Donna “Bonnie” Thorpe at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.
At the age of 17, Art began working at the Soo Line Railroad and retired in 1986. When he wasn’t working on the Railroad, he had his own business “Marti’s Steam Cleaning Service”, or helping a friend or member of the family. He was generous to a fault with his time and talents. He worked at DeBoer Trucking for five years. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Auburndale.
In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling. He especially enjoyed entertaining family and friends. Those that knew Art best will miss his charm, wit, B.S., and his love of people.
Art is lovingly survived by his wife: Bonnie; children: Connie (Dave) Weiler and Tom (Cindy) Marti both of Auburndale; siblings: Ronnie (Arlene) Marti of Vesper and Joan Zubke (Butch) of Marshfield. He is further survived by grandchildren Rob Marti of Edmund, OK, Amanda (Casey) Cain of Cocoeta, OK, T.J.
