Jacob "Jake" Dick Obituary

Jacob "Jake" Daniel Dick, age 76, of Marshfield, passed away early Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at his home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, September 8, 2025, at St John the Baptist Church (201 West Blodgett Street) in Marshfield. Visitation will be held at Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home (1010 E Veterans Parkway) in Marshfield from 12:00 PM until 3:00 PM on Sunday, September 7, 2025, and again one hour prior to service on Monday at St John the Baptist Catholic Church. The Knights of Columbus will recite the rosary at Noon on Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Hillside Cemetery (1110 N. St. Joseph Ave) in Marshfield immediately following the service with full military honors conducted by Marshfield VFW Post 1866.

Jake was born April 18, 1949, the son of Jacob and Marion (Fischer) Dick in Marshfield. He graduated from Columbus Catholic High School in 1967. He then enlisted and served in the US Navy until his honorable discharge in 1971. On May 12, 1973, Jake was united in marriage to the love of his life, Linda (Strozewski), at St John the Baptist Church in Marshfield.

After the Navy, he became a union steamfitter from which he retired in 2005. That's when he claims he got busy. Over his last 20+ years, he got more involved with the church and his faith, his family, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 1866 and American Legion Post 54.

In his spare time, he enjoyed watching the Brewers, Packers and Badger Football. He enjoyed time getting together with family and friends. He embraced the outdoors, whether fishing or hunting, playing or working, grilling or sitting, he relished being outside. Those that knew Jake best will miss him telling jokes, keeping the dust off the dance floor, and keeping the conversation interesting, and most importantly his love of family and God. He was not one to let the dust settle. He always had a list of things to do in his head. That list consisted of visiting siblings, friends, and kids; cooking brats, burgers and dogs for a VFW Honor Flight fry; fixing something in his house or yard or something at his family or friends place. To his last breath, he did what he loved, attended church with his wife, prayed for his family, and went home to clean up some tree limbs before going to his final home in heaven with his daughter Lindsay, son Robert, parents, and many siblings.

Jake is lovingly survived by his wife: Linda; children: Josh (Anne), Matt (Sarah); and son-in-law, Nate Zuelke; and his grandchildren, Jacob (Anna), Annabelle (Eric) Neve, Michaela (Henry), Michael (Avery), Logan, Lawson, Linley, Danica and Easton. He is further survived by his brother, Joe; and sisters, Mary Joy Dick, Mary Budtke, Franny Brandl, Margaret Becker, Teresa Nelson, Virgean King, and Kathy Dick; as well as many other relatives and friends. He will truly be missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Jacob and Marion Dick; his son, Robert; and daughter, Lindsay (Dick) Zuelke; his brothers, Jerry, Bernie, John, Larry, Dan, Robert; and sisters, Alice Rivard, Lorraine Dick; as well as many other relatives and friends.
