James R. Kieffer

James R. Kieffer, age 81, of Marshfield, Wisconsin, passed away on March 22, 2024, at the Marshfield Medical Center in Marshfield. A graveside service will be held at a later date at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Auburndale, Wisconsin.

James was born on Jan. 8, 1943, to James H. and Rachel C. (Corey) Kieffer in Marshfield. He graduated from St. Mary’s Grade School, and Auburndale High School in 1961.

He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1965, and served through 1969 – attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant (E-5) with an honorable discharge.

James married Chung-Soohui on April 22, 1970, at Miadong Cathedral in Seoul, South Korea. Together with his wife, they owned and operated Kieffer’s Market from 1970-1979.

In the 1980s and 1990s, he ran pizza routes for Tradewinds Pizza and Dadco Foods (Roma Pizza). He was also the district manager for Tradewinds for five years. Currently, he was employed by Walmart in Marshfield since 2000 to present. Jim enjoyed playing cards, shooting pool and going to the casino.

Jim is survived by his wife, Soonhui of Marshfield; brothers, Donald Kieffer of Colby, William (Marge) Kieffer of Auburndale, Thomas Kieffer of Crimora, Virginia; one sister, Suzanne (Jerome) Pankratz of Auburndale; along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
