After a long battle with cancer Janet Lucille Widmer Ammons passed away at the House of the Dove in Marshfield on April 27, 2026. Janet was born October 25, 1935, on the family farm in Clark County WI to John and Alice (Cammers) Widmer. She attended the Oak Grove Schoolhouse in The Town of Beaver WI and graduated from Loyal High School.
She married the love of her life Clifford Ammons Jr. on Jan 16, 1954, in Riplinger at St John's Lutheran Church. Jan and Cliff moved to 29 Palms, CA while Cliff finished his tour of duty with the Marine Corps. Jan and Cliff bought a farm north of Spencer. She worked for several mobile home plants in Spencer. In 1997 she joined Coldwell Banker Realty, a job she loved. She retired from Coldwell Banker in Marshfield in 2020. She was a life-time member of St John's Lutheran Church in Spencer WI, until she moved to Marshfield and joined Immanuel Lutheran Church in Marshfield. She was an early member of the Spencer Woman's Club and supporter of the Lucille Tack Center, in Spencer.
Jan and Cliff were avid motorcycle enthusiasts. They put on thousands of miles over the years and were members of Lauby Riders & T&T Riders Motorcycle Clubs. Jan had the honor of being the oldest member of the T&T Riders.
Jan is survived by her daughter Debra (Richard) Roherty, Marshfield and granddaughter Aubrey Roherty-Frank Humphrey Marshfield. Her son David (Leslie Wood) Ammons, Tucson AZ and granddaughter Mary (Steve) Ornelas and grandson Daniel Ammons both of Tucson. Her daughter Sheryl Eiberg Petaluma, CA and granddaughter Stacy Eiberg-Jeremy Rainwater and great granddaughter Journee Rainwater Las Vegas and son Kevin Ammons of Marshfield.
She is further survived by her sister Judy (Roger) Kilty and her family, Terry Kilty, Brenda (Ken) Nelson and son Brian (Barbara) Kilty, brother-in-law William Marten, Holcombe WI and family, Larry Marten, Sandy (Dave) Brummel, William (Jane) Marten Jr., Alan Marten, and Randy (Eileen) Marten, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Clifford on March 8, 2005, her father John Widmer in 1990 and her mother Alice in 2014. She was also predeceased by her sister Arlene (William) Martin in 2012 and brother-in-law Roger Kilty in 2022
A memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, June 5, 2026, at the Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home (1010 E. Veterans Parkway in Marshfield, WI). Pastor Chris Schwanz will officiate. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
