Jean Ellen (Mews) Teska

Auburndale – Jean Ellen (Mews) Teska, 90 went to be with her Lord on April 10, 2023 at House of the Dove.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, April 14 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Auburndale with Pastor Mark Lundgren officiating. A visitation will be held at the church 2 hours prior to the funeral service. Burial will be following the service at Greenwood Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons, Robyn Teska, Travis Teska, Eric Teska, and Chase Biederman.

Jean was born with her identical twin sister on December 9, 1932 in Vesper, Wisconsin to William and Gertrude Mews (Huibregtse).  She received her education in the Auburndale school system. After high school she attended State Normal School in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. She married Roger Teska on June 28, 1952. They were married for 50 years. Together they operated Teska Trucking. Jean also taught school in a one-room schoolhouse and was a substitute teacher in the Auburndale Schools.

Above all, Jean loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. Jean was a faithful member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and volunteered many hours as a member of their Ladies’ Aid. She had many hobbies that included quilting and cross-stitching. Researching and sharing family history was treasured past time. She enjoyed traveling and was able to visit all 50 states.

She will be deeply missed by her entire family and was recently blessed with a great great grandchild, Oaklynn Dooley.

Jean is survived by her children, Bruce Teska (Linda) of Auburndale, Paul Teska (Connie) of Arpin, and Jane Sluiter (Bob) of Sarona and daughter-in-law Susan Treml of Auburndale. Grandchildren, Rob Teska (Anne) children Allis, Ray, Russ; Travis Teska (Noah); Eric Teska (Jen) children Nora, Elsie; Katy Higley child Taylor (Devan); Amy Biederman (Chase) children Logan, Macy and Ivan.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Teska and sons, Russell and Dan.

Memorials may be designated to the family in her name and they will establish memorials at a later date.
