Jerome J. Curtin, age 96, passed away on February 12, 2022, at the House of the Dove in Marshfield. Jerome was born on December 12, 1925, to James and Edith (Grossbier) Curtin in the town of Richfield. He attended Sacred Heart and Marshfield Public Schools. Jerome was united in marriage to Beverly Ewert on July 28, 1945, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Marshfield. They shared 76 years together and raised eleven children.
Jerome spent most of his life in and around the Richfield area where he farmed and logged. He was an avid outdoorsman and made annual trips out West hunting game, and enjoyed fishing trips to Canada. He enjoyed playing and watching a good baseball game. In 1986 Jerome and Bev moved to Marshfield where Jerome loved to start his day at the coffee shop. He would gather with friends and family for a card game or shake some dice. Most days you could find him out at his “office” on the family land where he would plant a large garden and make maple syrup every year to share with family and friends. “Grumpypants” was tough on the outside but his kind heart, sense of humor and sly grin endured him to many.
Jerome is survived by his wife Beverly, his children: Ronald (Dee) Curtin, Sandra (James) Wilcott, Susan (Russ) Jacoby, Bob Curtin, Sharon (George) Kelz, Debra (Gene) Andrew, Pamela (Pat) Smith, James (Linda) Curtin, Diane Rupe, Jerrold (Teri Black) Curtin, Richard (Deanna) Curtin, 34 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren, his brother A.V. Curtin and sisters Maxine Hughey and Mary Ellen (Raymond) Geoffroy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, six sisters, four brothers and a special daughter-in-law Diane (Kromanaker) Curtin.
The family will have a celebration of Jerome’s life at the Eagles Club, 1104 South Oak Avenue in Marshfield, on Friday, February 25, 2022, at 11:00 a.m.
