Jerry (Jerrold) Jonas

Jerry (Jerrold) W. Jonas, 75, of Hewitt, Wisconsin,  passed away surrounded by his loved ones at his home from complications of a rare heart disease on Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2023.

The memorial service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 4, 2023, at Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home (1010 E. Veterans Pkwy.) in Marshfield . Visitation will be from  9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. Saturday morning at the funeral home.

He was born on July 17, 1948, in Marshfield, Wisconsin, to the late Lawrence and Arlayne (Curtin) Jonas.

All who knew and met Jerry felt his kind and caring demeanor. He was more compassionate than most and loved passionately and unconditionally. His family was his worldly treasure, but he put God above all.

Sara was the love of Jerry's life. They did almost everything together, but they especially enjoyed the special days spent out at the land drinking coffee together and watching the wildlife, sometimes just the two of them and other times with beloved visitors.

He also enjoyed the great outdoors, camping, hunting, and fishing with his family and friends.You could always catch him reading a good book and he is known for his famous old fashions. When he wasn't spending time outside, he enjoyed spending time with Sara doing leather work and other crafting.

Jerry spent 36 years working at Hub City / Fleming from June of 1967, to its closing in June of 2003. Of those 36 years, he spent 25 driving semi truck, where his CB handle was Black Sheep.

He is survived by his wife, Sara (Krarup) Jonas; children, Jeff Jonas, Tammy (John, preceded in death) Guden, Jason (Liz Conrad) Jonas, Jeremy (Chrissy Bredl) Jonas, and honorary son, Brandy King; grandchildren, Cody (Erika Peterson) Jonas, Kelly Guden, Ashley (Jordan) Landwehr, Brandee (Dustin) Feltz, Maiya Jonas, Seth Jonas, Branigan Jonas, and McKenna Jonas; and 5.75 great-grandchildren.

Jerry is further survived by siblings, Allen (Joanne) Jonas, Larry (Nancy) Jonas, Janet (Keith) Bushman, Bill (Betty) Jonas, Dan (Charlotte, preceded in death) Jonas, Judy (Dan) Ross, Kathy (Ron) Eckes; and many nieces and nephews.

The family thanks Jerry’s ProMedica nurse, Maranda, for her tender, compassionate care – not only to Jerry, but to his loved ones as well.
