Joan Marie (Wrege) Bonitz

Joan Marie (Wrege) Bonitz, age 93, passed away on June 30, 2023 at the Wells Nature View Assisted Living in Marshfield, WI.

Funeral services for Joan will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 109 Clark Street in Spencer on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor James Groleau officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery (Hwy. 13). Visitation for family and friends will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Tuesday.

She was born on April 10, 1930 in Highbridge, Wisconsin to Helmuth and Edith Wrege (Colver). She was the oldest of 11 siblings and spent her childhood in Cozy Valley, WI. She married Ernest Bonitz on August 7, 1949. They made their home, raised 4 children, and farmed in Cozy Valley until 1964 when they moved to Spencer, WI. In Spencer she helped her husband manage a turkey farm and then worked at Weyerhauser in Marshfield, WI until her retirement. Joan and her husband, Ernest loved to travel and spend time with family and friends. Joan loved her flowers, quilting, and making numerous crafts. She was an avid church member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Spencer, WI.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ernest and her son Gary. She is survived by her three children, Lou Ann, Bruce, and Lynn. Joan has 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

She will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her.

The family would like to thank Synergy Home Care, the staff at Wells Nature View and the Compassus Hospice Team for the excellent care they gave mom this past year.
