Joan Idell Fredericks, age 80, of Marshfield, WI, passed away on the evening of October 20, 2023, in her home, surrounded by family and loved ones.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at Northridge Church at 1021 W. McMillan St. Marshfield, WI. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service.
Joan was born on May 1, 1943 to Walter and Thelma (Dimmett) Westerhausen in the Town of Rock, WI. She graduated from Marshfield High School in 1962.
On June 9, 1976, Joan was united in marriage to the love of her life, Michael Fredericks in Miami, Oklahoma.
In her spare time, she enjoyed many activities including dancing and keeping up on her favorite reality TV shows. What she loved more than anything was to take small trips with her husband Mick, spend time with her family and above all she just loved to spend time with her grandchildren.
To all who knew her what we will all miss most about Joan is her love of life, her love for people, always being there to help someone in need, even if it meant she had to sacrifice something of herself in the process. She always put others first. We will all miss her bright smile, her contagious laugh, her little funny comments, her grateful and generous soul, and most of all, her larger-than-life heart.
Joan is lovingly survived by her children: Kenneth (Jana) Michalski, Carla (Scott) Lauritsen, Amy Michalski, Jennifer Michalski, Eric Fredericks, and Mishan (Erik) Schlagenhaft. She is further survived by her siblings, Kathy Hasteriter, Carol Keel, Beverly (Dave) Cooksey, and Donald Westerhausen. Her 11 grandchildren, Jared Haggins, James (Vicki) Michalski, Dakota Michalski, Dylon Lauritsen, Leah Lauritsen, Selina Fierro, Cheyanne Mondloch, Mason (Hailey) Mondloch, Drake Fredericks, Andon Schlagenhaft, Tianna Schagenhaft, and 9 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Thelma Westerhausen, her husband Michael Fredericks, brothers, Jim Westerhausen, Michael Westerhausen, and her granddaughter Taylor.

In Lieu of flowers or trees, memorials may be made to the family.
God saw you getting tired
And a cure was not to be.
So He put His arms around you
And whispered “Come to Me.”
With tearful eyes we watched you,
And saw you pass away.
Although we loved you dearly,
We could not make you stay.
A golden heart stopped beating,
Hard working hands at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us,
He only takes the best.
