In Loving Memory
June Federwitz, age 92, of Marshfield, WI, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2025, surrounded by loving and dedicated family members. June graduated from Marshfield Senior High in 1950, and married Harry Federwitz on June 28, 1952. A devoted parent, grandparent, and friend, June left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
A celebration of life will be held on May 9th at Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Marshfield at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Dean Pingel officiating. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. and a luncheon will immediately follow the service.
A lifelong lover of birds, June found great joy in feeding and watching birds. Whether it was a cardinal outside the patio window or the peaceful call of a morning dove, she cherished each feathered visitor as a reminder of life's simple beauty. No bird went hungry in June’s presence.
Music was the soundtrack of June’s life. From hymns in church pews, singing in the church choir, and humming along at home, melodies provided both joy and comfort. That carried through to her children who were all required to take instrumental music lessons in school. At times, you could hear polka music playing in her home as she enjoyed reminiscing about her days of supporting Harry in his polka band career. Her faith walk was strong and unwavering—a foundation that guided every decision and offered peace in all seasons. She was a pillar in her faith community, always ready to lend a hand, a prayer, or a listening ear.
June believed deeply in the importance of community and was an active volunteer in countless local initiatives. She volunteered at the hospital gift shop, was an election poll worker, a member of the ladies aid and countless other activities. She also spent several retirement years working for Paul at 5 Corners Laundry and Dry Cleaners. Her grandchildren can tell you about the number of times they attended the June Dairyfest breakfast bright and early. June gave generously of both her time and heart.
A true Wisconsinite, June proudly cheered for the Badgers, Packers, and Brewers. Game day was sacred, filled with family, food, and cheers (or groans). As much as they frustrated her, she didn’t miss a game.
But more than any team or pastime, June was her family’s biggest fan. She never missed a sporting event, recital, or concert. Rain or shine, home or away, she was always there beaming with pride.
June is survived by her children, Candice (Carson) Heinecke of Nekoosa, Cynthia San Hamel of Eden Prairie, MN, Timothy (Cynthia) Federwitz, of Wausau, Tamela (Mitchell) Larson of Shakopee, MN, and Mark (Susan) Federwitz of Marshfield; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and her brother, Robert Krueger of Pittsville, and a legacy of love, laughter, and service. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in every bird’s song, every game day cheer, and every moment shared in love.
June is preceded in death by her husband, Harry, who died in January of 1997; her brother, Gordon Krueger who recently passed; and son-in-law, James San Hamel who died in 2021.
Those who wish to express their sympathy are encouraged to do so by making donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital; Immanuel Lutheran Christian School, Marshfield; sponsorship of a service radio broadcast for St. John’s Lutheran Church, Pittsville; or the Lutheran Hour radio broadcast.
The family wishes to extend gratitude to the Serenity Living staff and Heartland Hospice for the love and care June received during her final couple of weeks.
