June J. Meyer, age 80, of Marshfield, passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2022, at the home of her daughter, Kathy, surrounded by loved ones.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 21, 2022, at the Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home (1010 E. Veterans Pkwy. in Marshfield). Rev. Mark Krueger will officiate. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
June was born on March 19, 1942, the daughter of the late Arthur and Verna (Petri) Budtke, at home in rural Stratford. She attended McKinley Country School in the town of Day and Purdy High School in Marshfield. On her 18th birthday, March 19, 1960, she married her soul mate, Arnold “Arnie” Meyer at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Auburndale. June worked alongside Arnie on their farm, and later worked at Kickapoo Valley Cheese, Figi’s, Weinbrenner Shoe Factory and Spencer IGA.
June was the kindest, sweetest soul. She was truly loved by many and was very devoted to her family; loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. June loved birds, flowers, gardening and crafting – she especially loved to watch birds and Cardinals were her favorite. After Arnie passed away in April of 2017, June always looked for the male Cardinal to visit her. The Cardinal came to visit on the day that she passed away, which gave us all great comfort. Her favorite song was “Where Were You When the World Stopped Turning” by Alan Jackson, which came on as she passed away. She passed at exactly 9:29 p.m., which was the exact time her soul mate passed away on April 4, 2017. This gave her family so much comfort.
Survivors include her three daughters, Beverly (Jamie) Nelson of Lake DuBay, Pamela (William) Flink of Marshfield, and Kathy (ex-husband, Chuck) Scherr; seven grandchildren, Jacob (Lauren) Meyer, Zachary (BryAnna) Meyer, Kaleb (Ellie Schmidt) Meyer, Elijah (Courtney) Meyer, Noah (Emily Pankratz) Meyer, Jason (Ashley Hale) Flink, and Justin Flink; two step-granddaughters, Heather and Trisha; four great-grandchildren, Elaina, Opal, Violet, and Franklin; one step-great-grandson, Jax; three sisters-in-law, Kathy Budtke, Jerilyn Budtke, and Jeanette Meyer; Arnie’s heart donor family, Steve and Andrea Atwood and their whole family; special friends, Marie Davel, Pam Mueller, Janet Zaborowski, and Jen Weiler.
June was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Verna; husband, Arnie; son, Randy and his wife, Lori; brothers, Donald and LeRoy Budtke; Godson, David Budtke; and her step-father, Melvin Kroening.
The family wishes to express a heartfelt thank you to the entire staff at Compassus Hospice at Home, especially Mariah, Miranda, Kathy and Kathleen, who took excellent care of our Mom.
