Karla Gail Aasen was a wonderful and caring daughter, sister, aunt, niece, and friend who will be forever missed. She left this world on July 6, 2021, at the age of 44.
Her parents, Christy and Galen Aasen welcomed her into the world on February 16, 1977. Karla blessed the world with her smile, infectious laugh, silliness, compassion for others, love for animals, and her overall joy of life.
After graduating from New Richmond High School, she attended St. Kate's and Century College in Minnesota. She was a skilled EMT and firefighter in New Richmond and was proud to serve others during her time there. She later moved to the Marshfield area and served as a volunteer firefighter for the Pittsville Fire Department. Karla's passion for firefighting led to her collecting firefighter memorabilia.
Her family, friends, and pets were the most important to Karla. She cared so deeply about everyone by checking on them, offering an ear to listen, or providing a shoulder to cry on – always without judgement. If someone (anyone and everyone she might meet) was in need, Karla was there to help. She had the biggest, most kind and giving heart. Karla enjoyed traveling, fishing, scrapbooking, journaling, thrift sale shopping, sharing her humor, and just having fun.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Julian and Charlotte Aasen and Irvin and Lillian Thompson.
Karla leaves behind her father, Galen Aasen, Downing, WI; her mother, Christy Aasen, Bloomer WI; her brother, Scott Aasen, Ridgeland, WI; her sisters, Amanda Aasen, Wisconsin Rapids, WI, Natalie Leffel (Tyler), Marshfield WI, and Kendra Aasen, Bloomer, WI; nephews, Christopher and Preston; and nieces, Brooke, Emma, and Mya.
A celebration of Karla’s life will be held on Friday, July 16, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Wildwood Park Station in Marshfield (1800 S. Roddis Ave.).
