Kenneth Gruen Obituary

Kenneth Gruen, age 82 of Marshfield, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully in his home on Wednesday, September 29, 2021.

Ken was born September 17, 1939, to the parents of Leo Gruen and Lillian Carver, in the city of Sparta, Wisconsin. He graduated from Tomah High School. On June 14, 1958, Ken was united in marriage to the love of his life Lois Nelson in Tomah, Wisconsin.

Ken worked for the 7 Up Company for many years before starting his own business, "Forward Vending", in 1978, with his son Barry. Mark and Eric joined in the family business as it grew. He took pride in being a local businessman and servicing the people of Marshfield. The grandkids loved going to the "candy room" whenever they came for a visit. In his spare time, Ken enjoyed fishing, going to the casino with Lois, gardening, taking numerous trips with their dear friends, and most of all, loved watching his grandchildren grow up, babysitting the "grand dogs" and spending time with the family at the Gruen cabin on the Eau Pleine Flowage.

Ken is lovingly survived by his children: Rhonda (Dale) Winistorfer, Craig (Heidi), Mark (Catherine) , Barry (Laura) and Eric (Alison); grandchildren: Brian (Emily), Sara (Kraig), Adam (Laura), Jacob (Amy), Nick (Kelli), Brianna, Katie (Nick), Emily, Alison (Isaac), Tyler, Ryan (Southern), Josh and Leah; great grandchildren: Jordyn and Brandon, Kennedy and Kayson, and twins Jaxon and Christian; and sister: Grace Morris. Ken will be missed by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends; and his beloved companion, his cat, Bob. Grampa made sure to tell those around him how proud he was of his family. Ken is preceded in death by his life long love and spouse, Lois, and his parents. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.

A private family service will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent in memory of Ken to MAPS (Marshfield Area Pet Shelter) or BlueLine Hockey, P.O Box 824, Marshfield, WI. We will forever keep Grampa's advice in our hearts, "Life is short, enjoy it while you can."
