Kenneth P. “Kenny” Kohlbeck, 82, passed away peacefully in Marshfield, WI, on January 6, 2025.
Kenny was born on April 14, 1942, in Wood County to Paul and Marion (Bores) Kohlbeck. He grew up on the family farm in Rozellville, WI. He attended Columbus Catholic High School, graduating in 1960. He married Marjorie (Weber) Albrecht on April 29, 1967. They had three children together prior to their divorce.
Kenny had a long career working for the Wood County highway department. To those who worked with him, they knew him as “Jake.” During his time at the county, he served as the Union President. He enjoyed his time with the county and retired in 2005 after 40 years of service. Retirement allowed him to do more of the things he enjoyed, including routinely working out at the gym. Going to see his grandchildren play soccer or basketball brought him the most joy. He was always the quiet spectator in the stands.
Kenny spent his spare time at Al-Anon meetings and attending stock car racing. He was an avid member of Al-Anon and was proud to be over 40 years sober. Attending the weekly meetings was high on his priority list, but most importantly, he was a friend and mentor to others that needed help to keep them on their journey to being sober. He was an Al-Anon Club Board Member serving in all the chairs over the years. Stock car racing was his other passion. If you wanted to know where he was every Saturday, you could find him at any one of the race tracks that he enjoyed. He loved to talk about the races and would set goals for how many races he could attend in a year. Over the years, he became friends with people from all over the state who shared his passion for racing.
Ken is survived by his three children: Jeff Kohlbeck of Tulsa, OK, John (Stephanie) Kohlbeck of Marshfield, and Jenny (Bob) Halle of Marshfield; his six grandchildren: Jack, Will and Charlie Kohlbeck, and Hannah, Samantha and Emma Halle; and his siblings: Jim (Marie) Kohlbeck of Marshfield, Mary (George) Davidson of Stevens Point, Elaine (Steve) Turner of Bloomer, and Ray (Audrey) Kohlbeck of Stratford. Ken is predeceased by his parents, Paul and Marion Kohlbeck; and his brother, Jerry Kohlbeck.
A celebration of Ken’s life will be Thursday January 23, 2025. Visitation will start at 4:00 with a Eulogy starting at 6:00 at the Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home & Cremation Center (1010 E. Veterans Pkwy. in Marshfield).
