LaVerne A. Flink passed away on Sunday, December 7th, at Wells Nature View with her daughter, Carol, by her side, at the age of 101 years.
LaVerne was born April 4, 1924, in Colby, Wisconsin, to August and Lena (Plutte) Spann. She attended Plainview Grade School and graduated from Colby High School. LaVerne was united in marriage to Norman E. Flink on January 1, 1942, at the First United Church of Christ of Colby. They farmed in Colby until moving to Marshfield in 1957.
They enjoyed square dancing and taking many trips to Nashville and Branson to see country music shows. She was an avid Milwaukee Brewers fan, first starting out listening to them on the radio and then following them on television.
She worked for Woolworth's Store starting in 1967 until the store closed in 1981. She then worked at Wing's Drug Store until 1994 when she retired and started her best job of taking care of her grandchildren. She truly enjoyed playing with them and they have many special memories of their time together.
She is survived by her daughters, Carol (Phillip) Weinfurtner, and Linda Kurth. She is also survived by grandchildren: Chelsea (Will) Hartmann and Kyle (significant other, Nora Dobos). She is further survived by great-grandchildren: Madison Hartmann, Caroline Hartmann and Benjamin Hartmann. She is also survived by daughter-in-law, Rebecca Flink.
She was predeceased by her husband, Norman Flink; two sons, Dennis Flink and Larry Flink; and a granddaughter, Abigail Flink. She is further predeceased by a sister, Viola Spann.
The family would like to thank the caring staff at Wells Nature View as well as the supportive care of St. Croix Hospice.
