We are deeply sorry for your loss - the staff at Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home
Lee Allen Olson, age 67, of Marshfield, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, May 30, 2022 in his home after a heart attack.
Lee was born on July16, 1954 in Eau Claire, to Orville and Betty (Hauer) Olson. Lee attended Marshfield Sr. High and was part of the graduating class of 1972. Upon graduation, Lee worked at Clover Cream Dairy and Figi’s. In 1973, Lee went to work at Weyerhauser for 26 years. Over time, a position for an Apprentice Electrician became available. After completing technical school and on the job training, Lee became a Journeyman Electrician, a position he held for 14 years. In 1996, he became a Technical Support Specialist in the Information Systems Department. This allowed him to take his hobby and make it a career. In 1999, Lee left Weyerhauser to take a position as a Computer/Audio Visual Technician with Marshfield School District. He retired from the Marshfield School District in 2010.
Lee’s hobbies were mostly surrounded by electronics. He had a curiosity for how things worked at an early age. He often took things apart just to see how they worked. He built his first computer in 1979 before PC’s were readily available. He built numerous computers in his lifetime and was a member of the local computer club at various different times. Upon retirement, Lee took up hobbies building dolcomers and turning wood pens. He enjoyed printing gifts for his friends and family using his 3D printer. He also enjoyed fly fishing. Lee was always on the look out for Ole and Lena jokes, since his great-grandparents were Ole and Lena.
Lee married Linda (Rettinger) Kramp in 1979 and they had 3 children, Stacy, Craig and Scott. They later divorced. Lee was a lifetime member of the local Ham Radio Club after getting his No Code Technician license for Amateur Radio. He worked his way up to Extra Class and was a volunteer examiner for the Federal Communications Commision, helping others get their license.
Lee is survived by his children Stacy (Justin) Schilling of Hibbing MN, Craig Olson of Appleton, Scott Olson of Greenville and Scott’s son Tenton Olson. He is also survived by sisters, Shirley (Larry) Larson of Janesville and their children, Connie (Daniel) Hodge of Marshfield, niece Donna Hodge and nephew Clint Hodge and sister Julie Olson of Madison.
Lee is predeceased by his parents, brother-in-law Daniel Hodge, previous father and mother-in-law, John and Eleanor Kramp and ex-wife Linda Rettinger.
The family would like to thank all the friends and family who have assisted them during this difficult time. The family is respecting Lee’s wishes to not have a funeral. The family asks that all interested visit Lee’s website http://ole-lena.com/ which contains Ole and Lena jokes, information about Lee, the Olson Family history, as well as a sampling of his projects.
