Leon Janssen Obituary

Leon C. Janssen, 71, of Marshfield, went home to Jesus on January 6th, 2025.

He passed away peacefully at his home, with his wife Cathy by his side.

Visitation will be held at Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home (1010 E. Veterans Pkwy. in Marshfield) on January 18th,

beginning at 10:00am, and a service being held at 11:00am, with Paster Dean

Pingel officiating. A private burial will take place at a later date.

Leon was born September 4th, 1953, the youngest son of Walter and Adeline

(Federwitz) in Marshfield. He attended Marshfield High School. He married

Deb Weister in 1976 and had his first daughter, Angela. He later married

Audrey Gass in 1982, having two more daughters, Nichole and Brooke. Audrey

passed away in 1997 and on July 12th, 2001, he united in marriage with

Catharin Vann, adding three stepsons, Michael, James and Justin, to the

family.

Growing up, he helped build barns with his dad and brothers, later following

that love of carpentry by building houses. He also spent many years farming

and doing field work. He later became a security guard at Figi’s where he

remained until he retired.

In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting with his brother, Larry, and building his

hunting “shack” with his stepsons, Justin, James and Michael. He could often

be found enjoying a good game of Sheepshead with his friends and family.

Those that knew Leon best, will miss his ability to fix anything. If something

was broken or not working, it was “Call Leon, he can fix it."

Leon is lovingly survived by his wife, Cathy; children, Angela (Brad) Harless of

Spencer, Nichole (Scott) Stuber of Westby, Brooke Janssen of Pittsville,

Michael Ott of Marshfield, Justin Weinfurtner of Marshfield, and James (Elisha)

Weinfurtner of Loyal. He is further survived by his siblings, Barbara Brown of

Arpin, Larry Janssen of Marshfield, LaVerne (Betty) of Abilene, TX, and Lyle

(Geraldine) Janssen of Spencer; his grandchildren, Jasmyn, Hannah, Michael,

Alicia, Grace, Britney, Addison, Cayden, Autumn, Sophie and Thomas. Leon

will truly be missed.

He is reunited with those who passed before him who include his parents,

Walter and Adeline Janssen; brother, LeRoy Janssen; late wife, Audrey Janssen;

granddaughter, Arianna Ott; brothers-in-law, Johnny Vann and Jerry Brown;

mother-in-law, Betty Vann; uncle, Myron Federwitz; cousin, Delmore Federwitz;

and his grandparents, Frederick and Emma Federwitz, and Ihno and Alvina

Janssen.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church in

Hewitt, WI.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Compassus Home Health

and Compassus Hospice for all their love and care they provided the past few

months. They were always there to help when needed and treated Dad with

dignity and compassion, even through his stubbornness.
