Linda Susan Knudson was born Linda Susan Engh to Norman W. Engh and Florence I. (Johnson) Engh on August 23rd, 1953, in Owatonna MN. Linda loved her childhood and was known as a daddy's girl. Her family enjoyed traveling to fairs, festivals, and spending time outdoors often with extended family members. She frequently spoke of these early memories, recalling their adventures with such fondness.
Linda graduated from Eden Prairie High School, then attended Concordia University-Moorehead to further her education. There, she graduated with a bachelor's degree in History. Linda's love of reading and learning historical facts reflected a lifelong enthusiasm.
While attending university, Linda met Keith Knudson. They wed on August 14th, 1976, and remained married for a total of 47 years. They enjoyed a life together with their two daughters, Shari and Sarah, eventually settling in Lakota ND. Linda became a grandmother in 2019, a role she proudly held, sharing love and countless laughs and hugs.
Linda's kind and welcoming spirit enabled her to make friends with many.
She found friends in faith as a member of Binford Assembly of God in Binford ND. Linda's faith was a significant part of her life. Citing inspiration from her grandmother Ida Oestofus Johnson's devout faith, Linda lived a life that also reflected these values.
Linda found kindred spirits while working at Walmart in Devils Lake, ND, making fast friends with a small group of ladies. Linda was overjoyed to have such close girlfriends again, and fondly spoke of their break-time shenanigans.
Woefully, Linda received a late-stage cancer diagnosis and battled illness in the last 3 months of life. Though the time was short, it was spent with family and creating lasting memories. Linda stayed in Wisconsin with her daughter, Shari, and grandson, Leo, during this time. They lovingly took great care of her and will forever cherish the memories made during her stay. Linda discovered that she was a gifted storyteller while playing trucks with Leo. She envisioned an indulgent feast while watching countless episodes of the "Great British Baking Show" with Shari. She was able to spend much needed time with "her girls" as Sarah also often came to Wisconsin during this time. While not the most tech savvy, Linda adapted to utilizing
text, phone, and video calls in order to stay connected with those she loved. Linda expressed her desire to have the family together for a grand, traditional Christmas celebration, like those in her favorite "Hallmark'' Christmas movies. She thoroughly enjoyed making such plans.
While Linda fought diligently, the cancer was a battle that could not be won. Surrounded by her family and a requested "Hallmark Christmas" of her own, she passed away on December 9th, 2023 at Marshfield Hospital, Marshfield, WI.
Linda is preceded in death by her parents Norman and Florence Engh. She is survived by her husband Keith Knudson of Lakota ND, her daughters Shari Rockwood of Neillsville WI, and Sarah (Chris) Elbert of Cambridge MN, and her grandson Leo Pfeiffer, son of Shari Rockwood. Linda was loved by many and will be deeply missed.
A memorial service will be held January 13th, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Our Savior's Church in Larimore, ND. All are welcome to join us in celebrating her life.
