Lloyd S. Skaya, age 87, went peacefully into the arms of our Lord on Wednesday evening, June 28, 2023 at Marshfield Medical Center, with his family surrounding him. A memorial service will be held on Monday July 10th, 11:00 am at Center City Church, 2209 W Spencer Street, Marshfield, WI. Visitation will start at 10:00 am, prior to service.
Lloyd was the only child of Steve & Gertrude (Adamski) Skaya born at home in the town of McMillian. Lloyd attended Stratford schools and later started working at Weinbrenner Shoe Factory, in Marshfield. There he met his wife, Caroline Egner, they were married August 16th, 1956. Together they raised five children. Caroline preceded him in death in September 2020, after 64 years of marriage.
Lloyd went on to work at Weyerhaeuser and then to St. Joseph's Hospital, where he retired as Laundry Supervisor. In his retirement he and Caroline enjoyed fishing and living on the Big Eau Plaine flowage. He enjoyed woodworking and just about any handyman fix-it job for himself or anyone in need of a repair. Many mornings he loved to spend his quiet time sitting at the end off his dock with a line in the water and being at peace with God's creations. At family gatherings he always got a sheepsheads card game together. Lloyd was most proud of his children and the legacy of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved traveling to watch the kids in any event they were in.
Lloyd was a member of Center City Church for many years and is survived by; his children, Sheri Skaya, Audrey (Roger) Immerfall, Mary (Mark) Umnus, Janet (Scott) Kleinschmidt, all of Marshfield and Gary (Jane) Skaya of Stratford. His grandchildren, Tyler (Brenda) Skaya, Dustin (Alexandra) Skaya, Samantha (Isaac- fiance) Kleinschmidt, Merrissa Immerfall, Ashlee Kleinschmidt, Seth Kleinschmidt and Alliah Immerfall, along with 7 great grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother-in-law Paul (Grace) Egner of Spencer and many nieces and nephews.
