Lucille was born on April 19, 1929 in Marshfield, the daughter of Fredrick and Leah (Buhrow) Gotz. She grew up on the family farm in Auburndale, which is still in the family. After graduating from Auburndale High School Lucille moved to Marshfield to work at Household Finance. As she walked to work daily she passed Hughes Auto Service and caught the eye of Bill Hughes. On August 26, 1956 she was united in marriage to William E. Hughes at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. They were blessed with three children; Nancy, Sandy, and Jim. Lucille loved being a mother and homemaker. After the children were grown she worked several years doing seasonal work at Figi’s. Lucille stayed busy growing a large vegetable garden and beautiful flowers, knitting, crafting, sewing, cooking, and canning her produce. She was a very talented artist and seamstress. She volunteered many years at Immanuel Lutheran Church, where she was a lifetime member. She also enjoyed volunteering at the Senior Craft Shop. Lucille was a kind and gentle person with a smile that could warm anybody’s heart. She loved her family and faith more than anything else in life.

She is lovingly survived by her daughter Sandy (Jeff) Schlinsog of Cedarburg, son Jim Hughes of Marshfield, and son-in-law Gary Bymers of Marshfield. She is further survived by 5 grandchildren, Eric (Kaitlyn) Bymers, Becky (Dustin) Follen, Kelly (Jon) Geiger and Heidi and Wendy Schlinsog. Also 7 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her foster sister Martha Koplien, sister-in-law Joyce Gotz, brother-in-law Tim (Cheryl) Hughes, as well as several nephews and nieces. Lucille is preceded in death by husband William E. Hughes, her daughter Nancy Bymers, brother Melvin Gotz, sister Bernice Rein and foster sister Mary Eckes. The family would like to thank all the relatives and friends for their love and support throughout the years. They would like to extend their gratitude to St. Croix Hospice for the excellent care Lucille received from Breanna, Brieta, Jill, and Meagan. Memorials may be designated in her name to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
