Marianna Gennett Obituary

Marianna Grace (Kolb) age 79, of Marshfield passed away peacefully in the hospital February 6th 2021 after a long courageous battle with congenital heart disease and renal failure.  Thanks to all the hospital and clinic staff who took care of mom while she fought daily and in her final days on this earth.  Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home is hosting a visitation and celebration of life for the immediate family only.  Father Sen of St. Andrews Church (Rozellville) will be officiating. Others can join by live streaming on the Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home website under the home tab. The live stream will go active at 10:50 AM on Thursday, February 11, 2021.

She was born December 10th 1941 to Grace (Raeder) and Paul Kolb in Marshfield WI.  She was second oldest of seven children with Jerry (Gertie) Kolb being the oldest.  Vernie, Paul (Ellen), Peter Kolb,  Catherine (Giles) Thieme to follow.  She graduated from Columbus High School in Marshfield WI and graduated from Mid State Tech.  Marianna worked as a nanny at a young age, telephone operator, and later in life had her own in home day care center (Spencer WI).  She taught pre-school children at St Joseph’s day care after closing her own daycare center.  From there she worked retail which included Yonkers and Kmart until it’s closure and worked at Figis in sales until her retirement April 2008.  She impacted so many young lives to do well in school which carried them in to adulthood and made lifelong friends everywhere she worked.

She met the love of her life, Roger, and after he returned from serving in the Army, they married May 11th 1963 St. Michaels Catholic Church (Hewitt, WI).  They started their married life in Hewitt WI and August 1965 welcomed there first born Denise and 13 months later Patrick.  Two years later Sara was born.  New Year baby of 1969 and in that same year Faith was born which made them Irish twins.  Marianna and Roger fostered many children and some came and left shortly after and others came into their lives and stayed.  We call them daughter/sister Rosie Schilling (Kenny) Edgar, WI, Trisha Sommersberger (Rick) Sheboygan WI

Marianna loved to crochet and when her fingers could no longer do she loved to quilt more.  She was very creative and did create some of her own patterns.  She loved to give her creations away as gifts just as much as making her creations. Friday night fish fry and Sheephead or board games was something she looked forward to doing with her friends at Wildwood Regency where she resided for the past 2 years.  She will be missed greatly by all her neighbors.

Marianna is survived by her children: Denise Salisbury-Weber (David) of Marshfield, Patrick Gennett (Barb) Pittsville, WI, Faith Zarnke (Larry) of Stratford, WI; grandchildren: Beth Wilatoski, Eric Salisbury, and Evan Salisbury, Cody, Brad, Laura and Eric Weber, Jory Gennett, Stephanie, Gabrielle and Zyon Foth, Mercedes, Tyler and Megan Dierks,  Paul, Chris and Ashley Zarnke; brothers: Jerry Kolb (Gertie), Paul Kolb (Ellen); in-laws: Shirley Kolb, Cathie Thieme (Giles), and Pete Kolb; as well as her life-long best friend: Betty Kaziukewicz of Shoreview MN, along with nieces, nephews, cousins, great grandchildren.
