Marie Frost Obituary

Marie “Tutz” Frost, age 91, of Marshfield, passed away early on March 18, 2022.  Marie held dear to her Christian faith each day and the blessed assurance of life everlasting in heaven.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 21, 2022, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Pittsville.  A visitation will begin at 9:00 am and funeral service will follow at noon.  Burial will be at Mound Cemetery, Pittsville, immediately following the service.

Marie Emma Preising was born in Stratford, Wisconsin, on March 2, 1931, to George and Ida Preising.  She was the youngest of four siblings and told stories often on growing up with them during fun and challenging times during the Depression and World War II.  She attended and graduated from Marshfield High School.

One of Marie’s best friends in her early years was also named “Marie.”  To avoid the obvious confusion, both decided to go by nicknames.  Marie’s friend would go by the name of “Shorty” and Marie Preising would be known as “Tutz.”  Many people commented they didn’t know her real name, but only knew her by her nickname.  Shorty and Tutz were lifelong friends.

Marie spent her twenties and early thirties enjoying life and becoming an avid bowler and softball player.  She worked at Auto Electric in Marshfield, taking pride in breaking many gender stereotypes in working with automobile parts and male-dominated fields.

In 1965, Marie married William “Bill” Frost and soon moved to a house just outside of Pittsville.  They had three children and Marie was very involved with all of their activities.  She was very active with St. John’s Lutheran church, as a Sunday school teacher, superintendent, and volunteer.  She also spent time as a den mother with the Cubs Scouts, working at the local Pittsville Bakery, and travelling throughout Wisconsin to watch Rich and Alan play sports.

In later years, Marie and Bill enjoyed travelling, camping, time with grandkids, and frequent trips to Perkins.  She was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan and relished in their World Series championship.  Marie also was an avid card and letter writer.  She always found time to stay connected with friends and family in the area and around the country.  Everyone welcomed the sight of a birthday card or letter from her in their mailbox.

Marie is survived by her husband, Bill; her children, Richard (Amy) Frost of Neenah, and Alan (Shelley) Frost of Folsom, California; her grandchildren, Brianna (Zoe) Brown of Neenah, Ryan Frost of Neenah, Brady Frost of Neenah, Jake Bandy of Folsom, and Zach Bandy of Folsom.  She is further survived by her sister, Doris Aumann of Marshfield.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Diane, 1967; her sister, Mildred Hamus; and brother, Donald Preising.

The family would like to thank the Aster Assisted Living staff and family and friends for their help and support.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lutheran Hour Ministries or St. John’s Lutheran Church Radio Ministry in Marie’s memory.
