Mary Kuhn Obituary

Mary Alice Kuhn, age 87, of Marshfield, went home to her Lord and Savior peacefully in her sleep with family at her side on September 24, 2025, at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in Chippewa Falls, where she had enjoyed residing for the past four years.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home (1010 E Veterans Parkway) in Marshfield. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until the time of service at the funeral home.

Mary was born on January 14, 1938, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, the daughter of Harvey L. and Bernadine A. (Porter) Beutler. She graduated from high school in Mellen, WI, and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in November 1956. She served proudly at U.S. Naval Hospitals in Bethesda, Maryland, and St. Albans, New York. Her military service was a source of great pride, and she is honored with a memorial stone at The Highground Veterans Memorial Park in Neillsville, WI.

Over the years, Mary worked at Felker Brothers and the Marshfield Clinic, and for a time, she owned and operated The Pasty Shop. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Marshfield. We are deeply grateful for her devout faith and incredibly proud of her 46 years of sobriety. She touched, encouraged, and mentored dozens of lives through her example and support.

Mary loved the outdoors, knitting, puzzling, reading, and staying active. She was a blessing to the nursing home staff and residents, known for “zooming” laps in her wheelchair, spreading joy and good cheer wherever she went.

She is lovingly survived by her children: Jeffrey Kuhn, Pamela (Thomas) Falanga, Kristi (Sammy) Reyes, and Jonathan (Brenda) Kuhn; her grandchildren: Angela Rambone, Joshua Reyes, Aaron (Grace) Kuhn, Amber Kuhn, Audrey Kuhn, and Annabelle Kuhn; and her siblings: Bill Beutler (preceded in death by his wife, Yvonne), Sally (Verlyn) Bell, and Linda (Ken) Thompson.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Bernadine. She was also preceded in death by Walter Kuhn, father of her four children, and John Gewanski, who helped raise her youngest son.

Her radiant smile, kind spirit, and unwavering positivity will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Jonathan (youngest son) fondly remembers her nightly words: “Good night, God bless you, and don’t forget your prayers, cause I love ya!” Her love and faith continue to echo in the hearts of those she touched.
