Michael Anthony Schilling, age 69, passed away October 8, 2021 at his residence in Green Bay. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, October 14, 2021 at St. Paul Catholic Church (603 4th Street) in Mosinee. Father Don Meuret will officiate. Visitation will be held at Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home (1010 E Veterans Parkway) in Marshfield from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Wednesday October 13, 2021 and again one hour prior to service on Thursday at the church. Burial will take place at St Paul’s Catholic Cemetery in Mosinee. Military Honors will be performed by VFW Burns Post 388.
Mike was born December 28, 1951, the son of Walter H. and Frances (Schmidt) Schilling in Wausau. Michael served his country proudly in the US Army From 1971 ~ 1973 earning the National Defense Service Ribbon, the Good Conduct Medal, and Expert Rifle Badge. He graduated from UW Stevens Point with a Degree In Business and Human Resources. He went on to work for various paper converting firms as Director of Human Resources in Green Bay until Retiring in January of 2010.
In his spare time he enjoyed golfing, downhill skiing, grilling, and cheering on the Packers. He especially enjoyed traveling, having visited 49 of the 50 states and many countries in Europe. Those that knew Mike best will miss his sense of humor, hugs, storytelling and his love for airplanes.
Mike is lovingly survived by his children: Sara Schilling Valdes (Roger) of Green Bay, and Rachel Schilling (Jennifer) of Des Moines, IA ; siblings: Harold (Nancy), Ed (Debbie), Marie Rosenau, Lorraine (Ron) Wilke, Wally (Diane Brod), Carl (Patricia), Mark (Kathleen Quinn), Francis (Terri), and Linda (Randy) Quist. He is further survived by his grandchildren Claire and Addie, who he loved dearly. He will truly be missed.
Michael is preceded in death by his parents: Walter H. and Frances.
