Nancy Evelyn (Butler) Retterath

Nancy Evelyn (Butler) Retterath, 82, of Marshfield passed away peacefully early Wednesday morning, March 24, 2021, at her home in Marshfield. A celebration of her joyful life will be held Friday, April 2, 2021 at Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home (1010 East Veterans Parkway Marshfield, WI 54449). Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM with the celebration of life beginning at 11:00 AM, to be followed by a light meal.

Nancy was born on July 5, 1938 to parents Frank and Margaret (Grancorvitz) Butler in Marshfield, WI. She attended the Local Catholic Grade School and Columbus High School; and she often spoke fondly of her childhood memories of close friends and family members with whom she kept in touch with over the years.

On April 22, 1961, Nancy married the love of her life James Retterath, and had her hands full with 4 very rambunctious kids. As time progressed, Nancy became very well known for her sewing skills, her passion for cooking, and of course her love of animals… especially those kitties. She enjoyed her shopping trips and loved visiting with friends and family, but her grandkids were what truly put the sparkle in her eyes. Along with puzzles, gardening, and crafts, she also loved family get togethers and playing a great game of sheepshead or smear. Those that were lucky enough to know her will always miss her light, bubbly, carefree attitude, her contagious smile, and her laughter.

Nancy will be missed every day by her surviving children; Rod, Renee, Russ, and Rory, as well as her 4 grandchildren; Ross and Riley (Renee), and Zach and Madison (Russ).

Nancy was preceded in death by her loving husband James in 2009, who she stayed true to until the very moment she joined him. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her brother James, and her infant son, Randall Lynn.

In lieu of monetary condolences, the family asks that donations be directed to the Marshfield Area Pet Shelter or the Clark County Humane Society in Nancy’s name.
