Nelrose Carpenter, 90, passed away on May 8, 2026, at Arborview Court Assisted Living in Wisconsin Rapids, surrounded by her family under the care of St. Croix Hospice.
Nelrose was born on March 14, 1936, in Dorchester, Wisconsin to Dewey and Sophie (Jacobs) Oehler. She graduated from Dorchester High School in 1954. Nelrose married Victor F. Carpenter, Jr. in 1955. He preceded her in death on August 27, 2014. Nelrose worked as a homemaker, and enjoyed vegetable gardening, painting, and baking.
Nelrose is survived by her bothers Jim Oehler and Gary Oehler, and Gary’s wife Paula. Nelrose is further survived by her son Donald (Linda), Jayne Jacobsen, Lori (Bill) Hoff, John Carpenter, Phil Carpenter and grandchildren Amanda Senn, Dustin Carpenter and Erica Carpenter as well as six great-grandchildren.
Aside from her parents and Victor, Nelrose was predeceased by her brother Harold (Margaret) Oehler, sister Marcella (Bob) Bredlau, sister Leora (Jim) Reynolds, and her grandson Nicholas Carpenter.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Marshfield, Wisconsin, with Monsignor Charles Stoetzel officiating. Visitation will be held at the church starting at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at the West Spencer Cemetery.
Nelrose’s family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff at Arborview Court and the staff at St. Croix Hospice, with a special thanks to Jen, RN for the care they provided Nelrose.
