Norman Hasenfang Obituary

Longtime Marshfield resident Norman J. “Norm” Hasenfang passed away Sunday, November 20, 2022 at the age of 82 while doing what he loved – deer hunting.

Funeral services will be held at Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home, 1010 East Veterans Parkway, Marshfield, on Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at 12:00 p.m. with Reverend Mark Krueger officiating. Military Honors will be conducted after the service by the American Legion Post No. 54 of Marshfield. Visitation for family and friends will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home on Tuesday.

Norman “Norm” was born Nov 7, 1940 in Marshfield to William and Irma (Thill) Hasenfang. After graduating from Marshfield High School, he worked at the family farm in Richfield, the papermill and the Freeport silo until he was drafted into the Army in 1963.   He served 2 years in Korea as an Army driver transporting Red Cross personnel. While in Korea, he met and married Choon Ja Parks. Together they returned to the U. S. and had two children, but later divorced.  After his military service, Norman returned to the family farm and later began his 30year career as a forklift operator at Land O’Lakes in Spencer, Wi.  A strong work ethic was one of Norman’s greatest attributes.

Norman was an avid golfer. He would play each day before work and golfed in (and won) many tournaments. Through the years he enjoyed seeking out lost golf balls found at the country club all of which he cleaned, organized by brand, and saved. His collection grew to over 10,000 “found” golf balls!  Norm also enjoyed trips to Las Vegas, casino gambling, and after retirement, playing cards at the 501 Club.  His family and friends will always remember the many hours spent playing cards with Norm at every gathering. His other passions included swearing at the Packers, watching the Brewers lose, and of course deer hunting.

Norman was inseparable from his beloved partner of 39 years, Coral Doescher.  Together, they blended their families not by name, but with affection, love & laughter. God bless the woman who has lived with a man and his 10,000 golf balls for that many years.

Norman is survived by his life partner Coral Doescher and by his children Daniel (Marianne) and Karen (Dave) Bolduc.  Grandchildren Claudia, Maya, Ian & Conor Hasenfang, Haley & Noah Bolduc.  Along with Coral’s children Christine (Dan) Hanlon and Cindy (Randy) Steinhorst & Coral’s grandchildren Evan (Abi) & Dylan Davies, Sammi & Hanna Hanlon who fondly called him “Papa Norm”.  Norman’s surviving siblings include Wilmer, Jim (Pat),  & Mark (Sue) Hasenfang, Ellen Lorenzo, and Janet (Bob) Mikula.  Norm was further adored by many nieces & nephews and long-time friends and neighbors.

He was preceded in death by his parents William Hasenfang and Irma Raunio, brothers Robert & Galen, Sister Leanne and his Uncle Frank.

The family wishes to thank the kind stranger who came upon Norman in his last moments on earth and for the many calls of support, love & condolences.
