Percy E. Nelson, age 85, of Arpin, passed away early Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at Marshfield Medical Center in Marshfield. A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home (1010 E. Veterans Parkway) in Marshfield. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 and again one hour prior to service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will take place on a later date in the Arpin Cemetery. Memorial Services will be live streamed under the Home Tab of the Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home website.
Percy was born February 19, 1935 the son of Martin and Lora (Schultz) Nelson in Arpin. He graduated from Auburndale High School in 1953. On August 20, 1955 Percy was united in marriage to the love of his life Patricia Follen at the First Presbyterian Church in Arpin. Percy owned and operated Nelson Construction and Hardware in Arpin.
In his spare time he enjoyed gardening, grilling and cooking for his family, along with Old Fashions on the deck. He especially enjoyed Hodag Country Festival, the Edgar Steam Engine Show, State Boys Basketball and weekly breakfast with his dear friends. Those that knew Percy best will miss his colorful language and endless jokes.
Percy is lovingly survived by his wife: Patricia; children: Debbie (Dennis) Kempf, Carol (Alan Weiler) Kulibert, and Mary (Donavon) Kempf; grandchildren: Danielle Kempf, Dustin (Ashley) Kempf, Nicole (Chris) Dent, Heather (Kevin) Fabian, Matthew Kempf and Ariel (Michael) Mrotek; his great-grandchildren: Ayla and Macy Kempf, Daxton Dent, Brody and Scarlett Fabian. Percy is further survived by his sister: Eleanore Panske (age 103).
He will truly be missed.
Percy is preceded in death by his parents: Martin and Lora; a daughter: Cindy; son-in-law: Jim Kulibert; and siblings: Reynold (Marion), Melvin (Rosie), Charlie (Judy), Lillian (Donald), and James (Sandy); as well as a brother-in-law: Reinhold Panske.
