Philip Kundinger Obituary

Philip Sylvester Kundinger passed away early Friday, October 18, 2024, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield, WI.  His Funeral will be at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Hewitt, WI, on Saturday, October 26, 2024. Visitation will be held 9:00am to 11:00am with Mass at 11:00am with a meal to follow.

Philip was born March 03, 1947, the son of Daniel Kundinger and Adela Panzloff in Marshfield, WI

Philip worked as a cheese maker for 40 years. He drove milk trucks for several years during that time. Mainly he worked in the factory making the cheese. Through his years he worked at Wiskerchen Cheese Inc, Greunkee, and Dairy State Cheese Factories. After all of those years his favorite cheese to eat was Limburger, or as the family calls it “stinky cheese”.

Philip was the constable of the village of Hewitt in the early 70s.  He was a firefighter of the Hewitt Area Fire Department for over 35 years from 1976- 2015. He has made countless contributions and many dedicated years to the HAFD. He was awarded Fireman of the year in 1983 as well as 2008. And served at St. Michael’s Catholic Church.  Phil inspired many people with his selfless heart of service.

Our family is blessed knowing Dad has saved many lives and has touched many lives other than ours.

Philip enjoyed spending time outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping at Rivers Edge Campground for about 20 years with his grand kids and were he made several life long friends. 

Philip is survived by his wife Karen (Rondorf) Kundinger, 4 children, 7 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.  The children are:  Randy (Deborah) of Auburndale, James (Carrie) of Auburndale, Sandra Resech (David) of Medford, Diane Smiley of Wausau. He is survived by his 7 grandchildren, Kayleigh Rogney, Kimberly Bauer, and Kendra Wilhelm (Randy), Kotty and Corey Resech (Sandy), Seth and Erika Kundinger (Jim). He is further survived by his great grandchildren, Kasyn and Cooper Rogney (Kayleigh). He is survived by his siblings, Joe (Jenny) of Auburndale, Rose (Jeff) of California, Vernon (Karen) of Stratford, Pauline Adler (Doug) of Marshfield.

Philip is proceeded in death by his parents Daniel and Adela Kundinger, sister Marjorie Ann, brother David, and sister Caroline Robus.

In lieu of flowers and for those wishing to express their sympathy we will be making a donation to the Hewitt Area Fire Department in Phil's honor.
