Phyllis Wendt Obituary

Phyllis C. Wendt, age 85, of Marshfield, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at the House of the Dove in Marshfield. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 26, 2024, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hewitt. The Rev. Dean Pingel will officiate. A time of visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 AM until the start of services.

Phyllis was born on November 7, 1938, the daughter of Robert and Anita (Dix) Ott in Marshfield. She graduated from Marshfield High School in 1956.

Phyllis was united in marriage to the love of her life, Carl Wendt, on February 12, 1974, in Marshfield. Together, they enjoyed traveling to many places, including Hong Kong, Hawaii, Alaska, Costa Rica and various European countries and the Caribbean. Phyllis was employed by Weyerhaeuser of Marshfield in sales. She loved her work, even though it entailed a lot of traveling and being away from home for a great deal of time.

Phyllis was an enthusiastic fan of the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers. She was passionate about attending the games and cheering her teams on. She also enjoyed playing a good game of golf. She was a big Tiger Woods fan.

Phyllis was a staunch supporter of animal rescue. Phyllis rescued two Shiba Inu dogs, Teddy Bear and Benny. She always said she didn’t know if she rescued them, or if they rescued her. Her most recent rescue was a mixed breed dog, Leo. Several years ago, Phyllis went to Clark County Humane Society and said, “I want to adopt the dog who has been here the longest!” She happily brought home Leo, even though, as a large energetic dog, Leo might not have been the best fit for her. He proved to be a loyal companion, was well cared for, pampered and went with her everywhere.

Phyllis is lovingly survived by her sister, Bonnie Ziegahn, and sister-in-law, Ardene Ott, both of Marshfield, as well as 8 nephews and 15 nieces. Her family is especially grateful for the love and support her sister Bonnie provided to her in the past few months. Phyllis is further survived by her beloved rescue dog, Leo, cousins, other relatives, and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl, in 2012; her parents Robert and Anita; her sisters Virginia (Clarence) Weirauch and Geraldine (Robert) Foltz; her brothers Kenneth (Rosie) Ott and Darwin Ott; brother-in-law Bill Ziegahn; and one nephew.

The family would like to thank the House of the Dove for their compassionate care provided to Phyllis.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church of Hewitt, Clark County Humane Society, or Marshfield Area Pet Shelter.
