Robert Ray Klein, Sr., 73, passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at Wisconsin Rapids Health Services in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin. A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 3, 2025, with visitation from 9-11 am, a funeral service at 11 am, and a meal to follow at Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home in Marshfield, Wisconsin.
Robert was born March 1, 1952, in Marshfield, Wisconsin, to parents Herman Klein and Arlene (Zophia) Klein. He graduated from Spencer High School in 1970. On April 7, 1975, Robert was united in marriage to Lucinda (Cindy) Becker.
Robert was devoted to his family and spent much of his life working hard to support them. He grew up farming and continued farming until 1998, successfully instilling his dedicated work ethic in his children and leaving them with years’ worth of stories and a lifelong understanding of the sacrifices a father makes in support of his family.
As a young man, Robert loved playing cards with family and friends until the wee hours of the morning. Sometimes finding himself heading straight to work or farm chores with little to no sleep after a long night.
He was an avid sports watcher. He loved his Brewers, Packers, and Bucks and was always ready to inform his kids and grandkids of the time of the next game – even immediately after being woken up after days of being sedated in the ICU.
His very favorite sports though were those played by his kids and grandkids. He was always their biggest fan and did his very best to make every game or meet. He cheered loudly and never missed a chance to let the referees know if he thought they made a bad call, almost getting himself kicked out of a few games over the years.
Robert was, above all else, a kid at heart who loved a joke and a good prank. He enjoyed teasing his grandkids and would get a twinkle in his eye anytime he got one over on them. Even in his 70s, Robert loved being a younger brother and took a special joy in razzing his older brother Richard.
Robert is survived by his wife, Cindy; his children, Ronald (Stephanie) and Robert Jr. (Joann). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Aileen, Anastasia, Fox, Xander, and Quinn; his siblings, Richard (Rosemarie) Klein and Marilyn (Allen) Krause; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Arlene Klein; older sister, Arla Rakovec; and brother-in-law, John Rakovec. Also preceded in death by his in-laws, Lloyd and Margaret Becker; brother-in-law, Terry Becker and Julia (Dickerll) Becker.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. His memory will live on in the legacy he leaves with the family who loved him dearly.
The Livestream link will be added here the morning of the service.
